Can I change the Steering Wheel Airbag cover?
I want the 2005 cover with the new emblem on it. Anybody know what I'm talking about?
The new steering wheel looks like this.
Much cleaner than the 04 emblem.....

From what I've heard, the airbag and the airbag cover come as one unit. If you want to replace it, you will have to buy the whole unit (which can be expensive).
By the way, this is the first pic I have seen that confirms that the 05 wheel is different from the 04. Good to know...

rifleman - So the "A" can be pried off without damaging the cover? If so, I guess it would be a cheap mod for kyle-wdp...

The cover on the steering wheel is not attached to the airbag and can be replaced seperately. There have been posts on this site from people who damaged the cover using the horn too agressively and put an mark in the cover and have had no problem replacing it. You won't have to buy the airbag.

kylewdp: Where did you get the info for your pictures?
I went to the dealer last week and looked at the 04TL and 05TL steering wheels, since there had been reports here that the emblem was different. They were identical.
In order to be sure of my answer to this posting, I called the dealer and had him check the part numbers for the 04TL and 05TL steering wheel air bag cover, which comes with the emblem in it.
The part number has not changed, which means there is no difference in the stock 2004TL and the stock 2005TL.
It is possible someone modified the emblem and succeeded in replacing the old emblem with the modified emblem.
Here is a link to the steering wheel, which shows the cover and air bag comes as an assembly. Even if the A-Spec steering wheel was installed, it would reuse the original cover and air bag assembly, so there would not be any difference there either.

I was sitting in a car on the showroom floor at Acura of BR. The car was a navi and also had Michelins. Is it possible that Navi cars are the only ones that have this new emblem?

I sat in an 05 Navi and it looked like the 04 and the Parts man said they were the same, but if you have one and it looks like the picture, then I believe you, but I am totally confused. I will quit talking about this until I can get some better information from the dealer or see one in person.
kawBoy: There are two pictures above. Is your like the lower picture (no black background in the emblem) or the upper picture (black background in the emblem)?

Ron,
I am under the impression that both pics are the same. My emblem goes straight into the steering cover, no backplate. I had my 04 for just a few months, so I don't quite remember how it was. If you want, I can just take a pic of mine and send it to you, so you can take a look.

My mistake. When I scrolled up to look at the picture, I only looked at the bottom picture because I thought the top one was the 04. Everything here points to the fact that the 05 is definitely different than the 04 and I am going to leave it at that. Case closed. Thanks for the help and comments.

The only question now is:
Is the airbag cover & airbag come as one unit or not? I believe it is one unit (as Ron A also mentioned) but some of the threads I searched say no. What's the bottom line?

Maybe there is a parts listing that is not available for viewing on this site, but in this link it looks as if it is all one piece. It also looks like one piece in the service manual.

I just had my steering wheel cover replaced last week because the seams were starting to look ugly. The airbag and cover are one piece and the dealership had to order the entire thing in order to get it replaced.

I've seen posts about people having ugly marks on the airbag cover from hitting the horn too hard and in the wrong place causing the outline of the airbag to show. I seem to remember someone saying he had the cover replaced and not having to remove the airbag.
