Caliper question

so im looking thru a picture thread of all 3g TL's...and im wondering why on all of the 07's, they had the black "acura" calipers, but on my 08 TL, i have those garbage looking run of the mill rotors

can someone fill me in?

The Brembo calipers with the black "Acura" on them are only on the 6 speed and the Type-S. Meaning if yours is a base automatic it will have the "ugly" calipers... As for the rotors, that also depends on which calipers you have. I think you were referring to the calipers though...

yeah i was just pricing that out...my boy works in a garage on long island and did my suspension/headers/legend calipers on my CL for pretty much free...not really worried bout the labor...this whole project will take place after suspension/wheels anyway

btw, blackura-->your old ride is my newfound inspiration..hahahaha

There's actually more to it that this. Replace the AT Knuckles with the Manual ones, etc. Not a simple job and one guy on here had brake failure after trying to "do it himself" so it's not a "simple" project. However, there are a slew of after market mfg's offering brembo-style brake kits. Most are around $2K

Just get the type s brembos and get them machined so it can be plug and play without any brackets...

+1, the knuckles are different for the Brembo vs. non-Brembo 3G TL's
6MT or Type-S front left knuckle 51215-SEP-A01
5AT front left knuckle 51215-SEP-A11
