California TLers please respond

Well here's my deal, I haven't signed for it yet but I wanna know what you people think. I know there's been post like this which is why I'm limitting it to California so stop your b!tching you got your TL already I haven't so please help.

Anthracite/Ebony/Navi/5AT

$36,395 + tax & license
4.59%
$12,000 Down
$518/60 months

total is $39,766 w/o finance charge crap

So all California owners please respond. I'll probably get it anyway but I would like opinions whether I can get anything else. There are 2 others that will get a chance on this car if I don't sign. Also is it OK to sign a contract before the car arrives. I have to give them the down payment tomorrow during the signing of the contract. I a first time buyer. Please no flames, just help, thanks.

i think thats too much........ 36,395? are you getting splash guards? wheel locks and others accessories?

here is mine

$34,200 + tax & license total = $38,200
3.99%
$5000 down
$596 for 5 years

and I got splash guards, wheel locks, and trunk tray.

I gave $500 deposit, and waited 2 weeks... and when the car arrived, took it for test drive... and then signed the papers.

What am I missing? Why are you asking if 1200 over MSRP is a good deal, unless that is the market in California. Plus the rate of 4.59 sound a little high if you have a good credit score.

Price and interest rate seem a bit high. I bought mine about four weeks ago and got about 4%. The dealer will come down if you show them lower rates and say you will finance yourself if they cannot do as good. Their 'napkin' rate started at about 5.5% with me for 60mos. I got about $1500 off their list price with about $2000 in accessories - spoiler kit, decklid, etc. That was for a non-NAV.

I would push for a lower rate, at least 500 off the MSRP, and a big discount on any dealer add-on's. If you are willing to wait, push for more off. I have not seen a NAV TL on a lot in this area, so they are harder to negotiate on. They want to sell you a car - tell them what you want and see what happens.

Good luck,

Aegir:

So 4.59% is still high for a first time buyer? They told me the reason why I got it that low is coz of my down payment.

5 AT / Nav / NBP / Ebony
34,195 + tax & lic
3.9% - 48 months
splash guard, wheel lock and big thanks for not bothering them again.
minus my down payment.

I bought mine back in Dec so the supply and demand should be up by now. I called and even threatened to drive to LA if they didn't give it to more for $34 flat. That's how I got the additional $195 (he wouldn't budge).

I stopped by my dealer last week to pick up some touch up paint and they had 6 auto on the lot (didn't look to see if they had nav).

That may be true. I wasn't a first time buyer and have good credit. Call a couple banks and a credit union. Only takes a few minutes and then you will know for sure if you are getting a good deal or not. You may be able to check/apply online too - depends on the bank.

Thumbs up thanks for the inputs

I've checked 2 other dealers, Cerritos and Downey (have 1 in stock). Cerritos can't match deal, in fact was more expensive. Downey was $1200 less but with high interest so did my math and ended up w/ the same as initial deal.

So it looks like I'm gonna be paying 2k more unless I wait maybe 2 months for the demand to subside. But to me 2 months VS $2000 is not worth it. I'd rather have my TL in the garage w/ my personalized plate by then :p . I will try to get more out of it tomorrow. I'll let you folks know what happens. Thanks for the help.

1) Do not sign any papers if the car is not here and you haven't test-driven it yet. Do not give them any money more than the deposit if the car is not here and you haven't test-driven it yet. You don't have to give them anything. Do not show up tomorrow. Tell them you will see them when the car is on their lot. You could be trapped with the down payment. It could be a mess to get out if the deal does not go through.

2) Go to http://www.edmunds.com/new/2004/acur...ebox..3.Acura*
Enter your Zip code to find out the True Market Value of 2004 TLs in your area. Print the sheet, bring it to the dealership, show them. Do not pay more than TMV. Get your deposit back and bring your business to another dealership if they don't budge. Walk out easy and clean when you did not give them your down payment...After spending 2-3 hours on you, they probably will accept your reasonable price (TMV). That's how I got my Anthracite/Ebony/5AT/NAV couple weeks ago at TMV.

3) Do not deal for accessories. Go to

http://www.handa-accessories.com/tl.html

to get accessories. I found them to be cheapest. If you must get accessories from your dealership, get them from their Parts department after you 've purchased the car. Their own Parts dept will charge competitive and ligitimate prices which will be WAY LESS THAN the "discount" prices from the salesman. Compare prices from above link to prices from your dealership's Parts dept. Enter yopur dealership's name on the link below

https://estore.honda.com/asp/logon.asp?

You should do this before dealing for your car.

Again, don't show up tomorrow if they don't have the car you want on their lot. If they threaten to put somebody else on the waiting list in your place, RUN, don't walk to another dealership. They are up to no good.

Keep us posted. And good luck.

I paid: $34,490 + Tax + License

I paid cash with out financing. There was a 3-6 week waiting list for this color and Navi. A buyer bailed on his deposit and I step in and offer $1,000 below MSRP. They charge me $290.00 for the additonal goodies but I didn't have to wait 3-6 weeks to have the car.

Included in this price:
Anthracite, Quartz Int., 5AT, Splash guards, wheel locks and trunk tray.

I leased mine, but every dealer in Southern California I talked to was willing to go at least a minimum of $300 below list for a Anthracite/Ebony/Nav and that's the most popular combination, so you are getting ripped off paying over MSRP. I finally got $500 below at Downey, but Tustin, Mission Viejo, and Cerritos were all willing to do that too, Downey just got the combo in first.

There is absolutely no reason you should pay above MSRP, even dealers in the gouging bay area are at least giving MSRP, and most will go to $500 below fairly easily. I suggest you check around more or consider buying from somewhere away from your area...
