Cabin filter

Can I follow the DIY cabin filter change in the G2 forum for a G3? My wifes 2005 TL is getting very poor air flow out the center vents. When she had it in for recall notices she explained to them about the air flow problem and they suggested changing the micro filter??? for $150.00 anyway she said no and now I am researching on how to change it. Thanks in advance.

If air flow has dropped noticably, get the old filter out of there. You risk evaporator coil freeze up when using your A/C if this situation exists.

While we're on the subject, and since I don't have my manual handy....

What's the interval (Time/Miles) for replacing that filter? I'm around 15K with my 07 TLS and just now starting to notice a very slight but short-lived unpleasant smell when I start up in the morning. It goes away in just a minute or so, but it's obvious that it aint gonna get better with time!

^^^^
Thanks! Much appreciated.
That's the number I thought I'd seen here before, but it seems like for whatever reason mine isn't going to last that long. I think I'll get through this winter and then swap it out for one of those Active Carbon Charcoal filters.

I change mine once a year which works out to around 14,000 miles for both of my TLs.
