A/C with high mileage

How is the air conditioning on the high milleage TL's (80,000+)? Does it still produce cold air after all those miles?

nope after 76894 miles it only produces warm air, after 107895 miles it only produces hot air

seriously though, with normal maintenance the A/C should be working as intended for unlimited miles

....yesh. Cold air. My sister's 04 with 86K miles just had to have the blower replaced though. $150 later...it's good as new.

I've heard stories where it would cost you $600 dollars to fix your AC. Thanks for clearing it up

Haha nope. If that's true then the dealer must've loved my sister or something.

At 7 years and 125k miles, mine is still working just fine.

On the other hand, my Nissan needed a $1200 A/C job at 4 years/40k miles.

To fix an A/C system can cost as high as $1500/2000 to do a repair, but it is maintenance free and most need no service. We have an '89 vehicle we purchased new and with 198,000 miles it blows as cold as when new and has never needed any service. Actually with all the vehicles we've ever owned, and there have been many, the only ones that have needed service have been 3 Jeep Grand Cherokees as the evaporator rots, leaks, then needs replacement.

Bottom line, not a common occurrence with the TL.

05 TL w/ 89k miles. Air is the same as when I bought it new or at least it feels the same i.e. ice cold.

if it loses cooling abilty it has a freon leak or system problem- get it ck'd

Older systems may need a few ounce top off -
must do pressure testing before such thing is attempted-
NOT for the untrained- death or damage to you and the car are possible--no kidding!!!!

DO change you cabin air filter annually-easy DIY, filters avail at parts stores with charcoal or antibacterial agents added are great in my opinion
vacuum out the leaves and debris while there

from my gen2, guessing gen3 may have same issue of too short a length power lead to the blower results in connector strain and heat damage,,a burning plastic smell you will never forget

No horror stories from the TL, but there are plenty of bad AC from the 04 - 05 TSX.

My 04 has 93K on it now and the A/C still blows out ice cold air. The only problem I have with it is a farting noise that it makes every time I shut off the car. Hopefully acura can figure it out the next time I'm there.

As mentioned in my above post, the dealer must've liked my sister.
