Thumbs up Bye bye TL... Hello RL

I posted the same message on the RL forums... Thanks to all in the TL forum for the information and help when I was buying my TL and when I owned it.
_________________

Like many, I finally made the switch from the TL to the RL. After 1 day of driving the RL, I have no doubts, I made the right decision.

I went from a 04 SSM TL w/ Navi to a Meteor Silver 06 RL and couldn't be happier... damn those ads "inviting" you to "come in and upgrade"

I took advantage of the promo financing rates and got a great deal.

I'm still getting familiar and setting the personalized settings.

My initial thoughts:
- RL rides very smooth and quiet compared to the TL... a little less pep on startup but I rarely drive that way so it's fine for me. Whoever said the RL is underpowered is certainly mistaken.
- Interior is certainly a step up and the Navi is familiar but I like the different look, seems sharper from my point of view. I like the dash layout and got used to it immediately.
- Center console storage is slightly smaller so I can fit less CD/DVD-A cases in there but that's ok... I transferred my discs to a CD wallet/ binder anyway.
- I like the sound system on the RL better than the on the TL... slightly more crisp sound
- There is a little more room for me than in the TL... I'm 6'2" and about 300 lbs. so I like the extra width.
- I like the leather on the RL much better also. It seems like it will hold up better in the long run than the leather on the TL.
- I like the look of the car and maybe it's just me but I like the elegant RL much more than the sporty TL... Don't get me wrong, the TL is great and I enjoyed it immensely but I feel different in my RL.

All in all, I am happy with my decision. And thanks to all in the TL and RL forums... as always lots of good information and awesome car guys and gals!

Congrats on getting Acura's flagship!

As a TSX owner, I could only sit in the RL (or even TL) in the showroom and envy the interiors. Both are well laid out and have attention to every little detail.

Had a TSX as a loaner and I think it's pretty good compared to my '06 TL. Seats are not as firm but it's still comfortable and the driving postion seems taller. Can't really figure out how the temp. work with the navi........

Congratulations on your RL. I have been avoiding the Acura dealership because of the 2.9% offerings to upgrade. I fear that if I went in I'd come out with a new RL.

RL is definately nice and better than the TL in a lot of ways. No question about it. That's why it's more expensive.

But the TL's sporty look as you've mentioned really attracts many younger people.

I personally think the RL's body is ugly. Anyone agree?

No I don't think the RL's body is ugly at all. I do think the TL is a better looking car but the RL still is a beauty.

Congrats on your new RL! Good Luck with it!

I think the RL body doesn't even come close to the TL. Lots of people seem to agree that the TL has one of the sexiest body styles around. RL's rear doesn't get me up like the TL's

Congrats on the new RL. I'm a fan, myself. While I think the TL looks better, the RL is still a looker.

I agree.... I think it looks to soft, like its trying to apeal to the masses to much.

I heard that the RL is having a lot of teething problems, anyone else?

How much did you get for your trade in? I have an 06, and I'm thinking about stopping by the dealer this weekend to see what they would offer me if I was to upgrade to the RL.

I love my TL, and so far its been a great car, but at the time I purchased it, I didn't consider the RL because of the price, but now I'm curious if the RL would have been a better choice.

Thanks.

Damn fatboy, it's no surprise the car lacks pep.

Thanks to all who offered congratulations!

My 04 TL w/ Nav was traded in at about $26000 but I got the RL at below invoice.

Another TL owner who is seriously thinking about upgrading to an RL.

When I bought my 05, the RL was selling for 46K so I couldn't justify buying it. If it drops to 40k like last year, I'll probably jump.

I used to think the TL looked better, but the RL has really grown on me. Maybe it's the fact that TLs are a dime a dozen here in CA and the look has gotten "old", but I can't stop looking at the RL when I do see one. I especially love the rear with the decklid spoiler. Beautiful car.

I'll take that xm traffic however
