Post Bye Bye '08 TL

Well after owning my 08 TL for only 6 month, I am sadly trading the car in. It has been at the dealership more then its been at home. I have been in a loaner car on and off for the last 6 months.

its been one issue after another with the car, and im just tired of dealing with it. I bought the car used in march for my 21st bday, and what a headache. the TL has always been a dream of mine to own. I over all LOVE the car, but i cant handle the transmission always slipping, and throwing gears so rough, the annoying rattle noise under the hood, the tailights always filling with water--- ect...

i bought the car with 30k miles on it, and paid $23,000 for the car. it now has 39k miles on it, and im only getting $20,000. good thing i had a nice lump to put down, and its helping me get into my new car.

acura replaced the transmission in the car, all the belts and hoses have been replaced, 4 sets of tailights, new interior trim pieces, and replaced the subwoofer and rear shelf 3 times. nothing seems to be fixed. are they really replacing these things, or just saying they are? the warrenty runs out in febuary, and i seem some costly repairs in the near future, that i dont wanna pay for. pretty much EVERYTHING under the hood has been replaced expect for the battery, & the engine. Thanks for all the advice everyone has given me!!! I have enjoyed my time on the TL form.

I will be moving onto the TSX form when my new car arrives on Tuesday. I am getting a BRAND NEW 2011 Acura TSX V6 Tech. white on black. i got one of only 3 currently avaiable on the whole eastern coast. i know how rare this color combo is, and it was worth the $1,200 im paying to get the car from PA to GA. cant wait for it to come in, already been ordering things for it. The lip spoiler and tint will be installed the day it arrives! I will post a thread on the TSX forms on my car and progess i make to it!

Thanks again guys!

Sorry to hear about your problems with the TL, OP, though at least you're staying in the Acura family. At least your willing to give Acura another shot, besides I think you probably got one of the "Monday" cars. I don't hear many problems from Hondas in general. I'm sure you'll enjoy your TSX, tho!

Sorry to hear that you were having problems with your TL. Glad to hear that you'll stick with the Acura family. The TSX is the only one in their lineup that I like. Congrats on the purchase of a new car.

Wow! Sorry to hear about all the issues you're having with the TL. I think you'll like the new gen TSX. Especially with the V6 and tech packages. Glad you're staying with Acura and still believe in their product. I'm sure you'll be a welcomed asset to the 2G TSX section. Good luck.

Sorry to hear about your trouble. I'd be very frustrated myself after spending a good amount of money like that.

Congrats. I'd kill for a TSX V6. Those apparently drive a lot like the 3G TL does. Tell us your impressions when you get it.

correct. didnt down grade- did a upgrade IMO. i read a post on the TSX forms, and it was saying once your used to these things, you cant go back. I mean to be 21, and have this TL, and then to get this nice TSX, i must say i am rather blessed. I do it all on my own though. work daily to make my money to get what i have. thats why it was so upsetting to be taken advantage of on the TL. it was a acura lease car, that was traded into a jeep dealer before the lease was up. prob, a spoiled rich kid brat in my area that didnt car about the car, knew it was messed up, so didnt wanna have to pay acura, and i got stuck with it. just sucks that i put $9,500 down on the car, and im only getting about $4,500-$5,000 back out of the car. sigh-

Good for you dude. I routinely say that the 21 year olds these days are all spoiled brats. Good to see that sometimes I am wrong.

I also agree that you did not downgrade. I would take a new TSX over my 08 TL too.

How'd u manage to put 9K miles on the car if it was in the shop so much? What's your commute like??? Congrats on the new car! White on Black is the sweetest combo, I had it on my old TL before I totaled it.

i normally put about 50-60+ miles a day on my car between going to work and the gym, and I drive alot on the weekends. took a few small vacations as well. Its a little shy of 40k now, and i trade tomorrow. and there was alot of extra miles added running between a few acura places, and car shopping and such... cant wait for my white on black. what ive always wanted...

Good luck with the TSX. This may be my move when I decide to move on from my 04 TL. I'm going to stick it out for a while though. Unlike you, I have had very few issues and the ones I have had have been minor. I hope you have much better luck with the new TSX.

BTW, losing only $3000 while adding 9k miles is not too bad on a low mileage car.

the more warranty work you have done, the more issues you'll have. maybe a small tip for your current tsx. i experienced the same in my previous TL that i owned. lots of warranty work. technicians are human too -- problems they fix usually create new problems, especially considering how they have to tear into things to get to the issue at hand.

sorry to hear of the problems you had with the TL-Hopefully you will have good luck with the tsx. Wish the v-6 tsx was offered with manual transmission. I bought my 06 tsx from a dealer in PA and drove it home to NC.

I agree with this and agree that it is good to avoid unnecessary warranty work ...

... but how do you avoid warranty work if you are having issues?

yes i very much agree with this, and i will not have things done, unless they must be done! i think that was a issue with the tl they would fix one thing and break another. i picked up the TSX last night & im loving it!
