Buying a TL in NJ

Took a test drive of the Acura TL yesterday and was absolutely floored. My BMW dealer recommended a guy at Ramsey Acura, and right off the bat he offered $1500 off sticker. I'm about to pull the trigger on this purchase, as from what I've read lurking on this board, this seems to be a fair deal. Am I right in assuming this?

Edit: We're looking at a 6-spd black on black car w/navi. My dealer said he doesn't have one in stock, but should be able to get me one in 3-4 weeks.

I bought my car from DCH Montclair Acura. Talk to Mike Seitz there. He gave me a great deal on a DGP/Camel/6sp/Navi. Tell him Nitin Gupta referred you to him. You should be looking in the $33k range +Title/Tags/Reg to get a good deal.

Cheers!

Edmunds does a "True Market Value" on their website. Not sure how acurate it is, but they're numbers say you should get approx $1350 off of MSRP.

DCH Montclair SUCKS!!!

Whatever you do DON'T bring it to DCH for services. You can buy it there cause the sales people are cool but the SERVICE DEPT. r DICKS :fingerfawk: !!!!!! They don't know what there doing. They couldn't even fix a rear windshield after three visits :sqntfawk: . My car sat with them for 24 days and they said they were waiting for rear gasket for window. HELLO!!!! A$$HOLES...ever hear of overnight delivery...and NO the part wasn't on back order cause i checked with another local dealership. Needless to say i got to Open Road Acura of Wayne,NJ. Service Manager there is awsome and gets the SH*T done right. GOOD LUCK!!!!

You will find that folks have gotten better deals in your area. I remember someone got one at Open Roads at a good price. Search this forum using words like "invoice" or "deal" and you will find specific examples.

Bought mine at Acura of Denville. Did not get delivery yet (it had to be ordered) Anthracite/Camel, non-navi. 6MT

Paid $30,996 = $1859.76 (tax) and 44.50 registration and $78 Document Fee, for a total of $32,978.26.

I don't know about service yet. If interested call Brad Sims at 793-361-2626 and tell him Alan Kaufman suggested you call.

Hope this helps,

Alan

Thanks, everybody, for the excellent advice. I'll call my salesman and tell him that I'm willing to offer $500 over invoice and see what he says. If we can't close the deal, I'll e-mail a number of the local dealers and see what I come up with.

Bought mine (silver/ebony 5 speed/non-nav) for 30,000 even at Open Road Acura in Wayne, which included the wheel locks, splash guards, and trunk tray. On top of that was tax, doc fee, and dmv fees.

Bought mine SSM/Ebony/6MT/navi for $33.3k from Ramsey Acura 6 weeks ago. Overall a pleasant buying experience, they e-swapped my car with another dealership. They refused to switch the tires though ( I asked them for Falkens). Got 3.39% financing through the dealer.

31575 dealer invoice nav/with standard tires
1895 State Sales Tax
545 delivery
34015 approx total
add in 130 for registration and paperwork that takes about 2 hours and 40 bucks
figure 3% hold back on MSRP about $1000
Paying 33.3k for the invoice listed above gives the dealer 3k.

Just my nickel's worth - I have always gotten the best deals in person. Emails etc. sometimes they will inch price a little higher. But standing in front of a drooling salesperson with checkbook in hand has always allowed me to get the price that I want (never more than 500 over invoice).

Just a thought - sometimes easier said than done due to locations of dealers around you. Sometimes a day of driving can pay off tho.

Good luck. Remember, they want to sell it just as badly as you want to buy it.

Any idea how many Acura's they move a month. I would guess a big dealership sells 200+ new Acura's a month.

You're looking at what I got. I bought mine from Open Road - East Brunswick and would not recommend them. Promised 3 days which ended up to be 2 months. During that time I did a search of other dealers and Park Ave. ended up having on the lot cause of deal falling thru what I wanted. The guy was Mano and he was real nice. Was even willing to go lower than what I paid ($33,000 before taxes, etc.) I would call him. And also be a little leary of this 3-4 wks promise. It's hard to get the combo you want.

His name was Lloyd. They e-swapped the car with another dealership, who already had it on order. Thus, my waiting time was less than if you order the car. 4-8 weeks sounds believable. Do you want MT, too?

The question is who was the other dealer because they were willing to sell it for less.

I too bought my car from DCH Montclair Acura. Mike Seitz treated me right and gave me a price of $33,300 for a WDP 6mt/Navi. That included mud flaps, wheel locks and a trunk tray. The car came in a week late but I think that Acura was running a week behind in production.

I work near Springfield Acura and non nav 5at are all about. I got to believe a end of the month dealer against dealer you could work to get close to invoice. I've seen non nav 5at sit for months and this is a small dealership.

Just for the record does not NJ now have a 4 year registration and a tire tax so your 44.50 is more like $200.

you do not get 4 years registration in NJ. it is the inspection that is 4 years.
registration is still an annual event.

as far as the tire tax (from McGreevey) the last time i heard, they only charge $7.50. this is a one time charge....not sure about this one...

Park Ave Acura is the best dealership in NJ and arguably the US. I bought both my TLs there.

I know the inspection on new cars is extended, however, I do believe you now pay for the registration for 4 years in advance. I was told this by someone who recently paid it and then I looked it up on line and sure enough NJ passed a law around June of this year. The inspection cost have at least for a number of years been bundled with registration. Other than the interest on the money it is somewhat academic. However, if you sell the car before 4 years the money is not refundable.

2K2
What makes Park the best in your opinion in the NJ or the US?
