Buying my first TL
Buying my first TL
Hello, this is my first post as I am closing in on purchasing my first TL. I am looking at 2 used ones, both '05, both with Navi.
My questions is one is Black Pearl with black leather and one is White Pearl with grey leather. Other than personal preference is there anything I should think about before picking one versus the other. I have heard black is harder to keep looking good because you see the scratches. Any thoughts???
Also one has higher miles than the other and is out of warranty. What is the chances I have something go wrong?
Any feedback would be very helpful! Thanks, I can't wait to be driving a TL!!

btw those 2, i would go w/ the black/black. look at the bumpers on the WDP and see how bad the bumper mismatch is- if applicable. obviously, you will have a harder time keeping the NBP looking clean.
Anything can go wrong
Acuras are great cars, but anything can go wrong, as you will see by following this forum. You'll see transmissions, persistent driveline vibration and an array of squeaks and rattles.
Nothing looks better than black when it is clean and detailed. If you have the energy to keep it looking nice (you might actually enjoy that), you'll get a lot of gratification out of that. The white is going to be more forgiving if it gets a little dust on it or you get caught in the rain. My experience with black cars, and I've had a few, is that they look good the day you wash them and that's it. My last car was black and I've sworn off. My TL is Anthracite, which is still dark and looks nice, but is more forgiving if it's not perfect.
I'd take the one with some warranty, even if it's a few months. I'd weight that criterion higher than the color. You can give the car a thorough going over the first few months you have it and take it back to the dealer to get everything fixed. Some little things, like squeaks and rattles, can be annoying and costly to fix. If it's under warranty, it's the manufacturer's headache. Good luck with whatever you choose. These are really nice cars!

I'd definitely factor in the heat from a black/black combination if you live in a part of the country where it gets really hot in the summer. I have an NBP and it heats up in the sun unbelievably fast. I figured I could live with it since I garage it and park in a garage at work, but taking it anywhere else during the summer I definitely make use of the remote window rolldown feature a lot lol.
As far as keeping it clean - meh, yes it is a little more hassle, but it's worth it

Like others have mentioned, black cars are a royal pain to keep clean. If you like a clean looking car and are the type that washes your own car religiously, then black may be OK.. If not, black can go to hell quickly. Either way, cleaning it all the time will sooner or later have you rethinking a white/"non-dark" car.... :-)
I honestly have never owned a black car but many many moons ago helped my old-man keep his clean. Even at that age, I vowed never to own one myself... The heat of your black combo could also be an issue - but a livable issue.
The WDP with the gray interior was once a tough combo to find.... My 04 WDP TL is also the first white car I have owned. I will admit it looks great and is much more forgiving with dirt and blemishes.
I would venture to say you would also benefit from the WDP when/if you sell etc..
As i'm sure you are well aware, there must be other pro's and con's of each car thus don't let the color be your only parameter.
- Then again, their's always a quarter.... As in, "heads or tails".....
Good luck
