Buying an 06 TL 6SPD Manual what to look for?

Hi everyone I'm looking at a couple TL's in my area (Ohio) and I wanted to know anything to look out for during my inspection, what areas on these cars have issues. I've researched the features and specs I know all that and I've driven a few so I know how they feel. Just looking for some advice Any major recalls for this period?

Also how valuable would you guys say the Certified Pre-Owned status is vs. a general used dealer or private party? Is it worth it or would I be better off riding out the factory and extending in the future.

Thanks.

Make sure you get one with a solid transmission. There are 6spds that have issues with 3rd gear (popping out, grinding, and difficulty putting into) So make sure you look at 3rd gear when you test drive.

You might also look into getting an extended warranty through Acura but look into what options they may have for you.

well, the most common issue ive read on this forum is the 3rd gear issue where it keeps popping out. i dont know what exactly the problem is, but it seems to be common with all 3G TLs.

i was also thinking about riding out the factory warranty, but a friend told me that the longer you wait, the more expensive the extended warranty becomes, so...

Just bought an '06 TL 6MT about 3 weeks ago and love it... havent experienced any 3rd gear problems (knock on wood), and have absolutely no complaints with the car... I went with the extended warranty, giving me a grand total of 7yr/100,000 mile bumper to bumper, and it only came out to about an extra 12 bucks on my monthly payment...

where in Ohio are you located?? I am originally from the Dayton area, went to HS and college in Ohio before moving to IL for work... Looked at a few TL's in Cincinnati and almost bought one from Columbia Acura, but it got sold the day before I drove down to test it out...

Good luck with the search!!!

Make sure it has the Navigation system so you'll never be amongst the 10's of 1000's that didn't get it who looked back afterwards banging their heads into the wall wishing they had. And as soon as you do get the car, make sure you change the manual transmission fluid with:

... on day one!

Good luck !!
