Busting the vinyl out!
Busting the vinyl out!
I'm about to vinyl my roof gloss black and was looking at where to buy vinyl from for cheap.
Has anyone used metrodecals.com? Looks pretty legit.
Also, whats easier to do, a wet application or a dry application? Any tips?

Google local businesses that supply vinyl to sign shops. Usually they have a large selection and much cheaper then sites that sell them for cars.
A wet application is much easier becasue it allows you to move the vinyl and get it in the correct position. Use alot of water/soap mix, you will end up using a squeegee and heat gun to remove any bubbles and water from under it.
If you do it dry, it's like putting a sticker on something, once it's on, it's on, and you cannot position it right.
Hope this helps.

i already talked to andy and he said it's 89 shipped for AZ members. it's a vinyl precut for the 3g roof. or you can do what timb said and find a local business and buy a roll of vinyl. i havent decided which route to go yet cause i'm going to need vinyl for my xm antenna too. good luck (:

When I got my TL tinted, the tint guy also did signs and had rolls of the stuff just lying around. He was surprised when I mentioned that people put that stuff on their roofs. Just make a few calls to sign places. If you find a place you can see it before you buy.

I think your wrong .. I have had mine on for 2 years now and no splitting or looking like crap. Mind you I take car of my stuff .. if you treat it like crap it will look like crap .. anything will ... look at some of the car finishes in here.
I ended up sanding it down and painting it with a can of exterior black auto body paint, topped with a few clear coats.
dang, really?
how did yours turn out? may i see a picture?
i think i read that somebody bought a black one off ebay for 15 bucks.
