This thread reminded me of a car show I attended back home where they had this fully bullet proofed Range Rover built in the UK sitting there, complete with run-flats. Thing weighed like 4 tons and they actually showed a bunch of military police the hell out of the truck. I was speechless. A lot of African presidents have them now - guess thats who they were targeting to buy them. Tag said something close to $500000. So thats what a moving luxury vault will run anyone who's interested.

You must live in my old neighborhood in Durham, NC!!!!

Better solution is just to buy a rattly old American dinosaur of a car, something big like an old Oldsmobile, or if that is not possible, something like a Gremlin, so that they will think it's a waste of time to shoot at you.

Here's one!

i'll volunteer to test this out on your car -- i'll be the attacker and you be the "protected" occupant inside.

Can I slam into you at high speed and try to break the glass with your cranium?

Seriously though I know the laminants work to a certain extent. Will they stop high caliber bullets from say a 22mm canon - I don't think so. Will they stop a simple 9mm and keep your window crack free after rocks barrage it on the freeway - probably so.

Maybe because there are so many carjackings here in SoCal but there are a lot of stores around here that offer the laminant protection. If someone is stupid enough to engage in risky activity because they think they're invincible - that's their fault.

For me I'll probably just get it installed on my windshield to avoid cracks. I had to replace the windshield on my last car 5x over 8 years because of stupid dirt haulers on the 605/91/5. At $100 dedeuctible a pop - it should pay for itself.

your windshield is already laminated, much thicker than any "film" that can be added. and it would not stop a 9mm either, stop fooling yourself and misleading others.

most people are right on the forum, chances of that happening again are slim
bulletproofing your car will set u back a lot

i dont know your state, but see if you can carry around a weapon, i always keep a glock 9 under the seat when im driving and a 6 in blade in the glove compartment
charnces are, like me, u will never use it

im sorry to hear about the traumatic experience you and ur sister went thru, but just be more aware now
you see someone approachin, get the hell away
