i have an 04 TL and would like to get bullet proof glass installed in my car. Does anyone here have that or have an idea of how much that would run me?

I think it's like 2-3 grand just to get that (for 1 window) but what's the use also if the car isn't bullet proof and we don't have run flat tires?

You deal enough drugs to warrant that?

Actually with all the crazy stuff that goes on in urban areas (like here in SoCal) there are several companies that now do armoring/safety upgrades. There's a new film you can put on glass that stops anything up to a 45 and can take up to about 6 hits (different areas) before failing. I am seriously considering this after having my windows broken after that 1st Laker win at the beginning of the 3peat. I think the film is about $300 for windshield and less per sides. It can also be applied to home windows.

Now to bulletproof the car's body, you're talking armor - which would weigh down the car and require suspension modifications and all kinds of $.

I LOVE my TL, but I don't have any desire to be in it if someone is shooting at me, I would rather have a car that has been totally converted for that situation or straight from the factory, ie BMW or MB, you could not afford what it would cost to convert or upgrade to that. CHA CHING

Okay, I REALLY want to know why the OP needs bulletproof glass.

And to answer your question, I have no idea where you can get that done or how much it would cost. You could try though. knows everything!

As for the doors, you could apply a balistic grade kevlar (Buy ) to the inside of the doors, this would stop small arms fire, as for the run flats, you just buy those and put them on. And with either the Bullet proof glass or the film on the glass, BAMM, you now have a "somewhat" bullet proof car. Not as armored as the A-Team contraptions, but non the less, small arms fire ready. That is as long as they dont kill the motor with a bullet or blowup the fuel tank, Oh right, that is a Hollwood movie trick.

But for rifle attacks, you would still get hit.

Why not call a company who specializes in this sort of thing? My guess is that 99.9% of the people trolling this forum know absolutely nothing about installing bulletproof glass in a vehicle.

With that said, I'll side with the other posters in wondering why you need such glass on your TL?

well, to be fair, thats not really our business, but it might help if we knew why...ok maybe not, but at least it would satisfy our curiosity.

I guess the Batmobile is in the shop and you need something to stop those evil villians.

I have heard of pimping-out your ride but I somehow think this request is a little different.

well for all those curious people out there..the reason i want to get this done is because i want to take precautions. Last year, I was shot at by a roadside mugger and the bullet missed my 14 year old sister by inches.

I would install the bullet-proofing kit on my TL but I already installed the flying kit with wings, turbo jet, etc.

I'm afraid the extra weight would prevent me from taking off and flying.

Seems like an expensive precaution for a "once in a lifetime" incident. However, should your "neck of the woods" have these types of things happen all the time, perhaps you should convince your parent(s) to move to another location of the country.

If you're willing to spend the coin to do something as expensive as bulletproofing your car, then you should probably spend the money on moving costs.

Not claiming to be a firearms expert here, but I've done my share of shooting, and research.

OK your glass is now bullet proof. What about the rest of your car????
The only thing the will absorb a hit of any size is your engine block, which means you would have to Kevlar the entire passenger compartment!

So for bang for your buck get the jet engine accessory, the strap on wings and while your at it, the hover capability would be great as well.

Sure, at the steering wheel!

On a more serious note, my lawn mower utilizes 6hp Tecumseh gasoline POWERPLANT, but I had no idea it's top speed was 40 mph

I cant believe you would want to make it bullet proof. Listen kid, its not worth it. Buy the time its all said and done the mugger would probably cap your ass just before you got to the car...
