Broken Wheel Stud

Hi TL'ers,
Need some advise. Purchaced the wheel lock. Installed it myself, on the 4th wheel (right front tire) dont know what happened, the stud gave up. I set the torque wrench at 40fl/lb then 60ft/lb and the 80fl/lb. Other wheel went perfect, stop when 3rd click heard. But the darn 4th stud gave up after 3rd click on the torque wrench. Is this something cover under warranty? Metal fatigue maybe?
Thank you in advance for any advise for dealing with dealership.

Wow,
of all my previous years as a professional mechanic as well as personal I never broke a stud.. Stripped the threads on several but never broke/snapped em off.. - Were you able to get the stud piece out of the wheel lock? I have seen people cross thread studs/lug nuts and twist the stud off trying to remove them....

You sure your torque wrench was only set to 80 ft/lbs? Maybe a little "calibration" is in order.. :-)

Anyway, all you can do is explain the situation to the dealer.. I know mine would probably fix it out of customer loyalty whether over torqued or not. Then again I would probably just buy a stud and replace it myself..

Good luck

Only time I snapped a stud, was when I was trying to remove a lugnut that Les Schwab had cross-threaded with their impact wrench. Snapped the stud off the first one, and the second one was on so tight it actually snapped my 2" extension bar

Needless to say, I never go there anymore....
