Oops, quick draw on the return key. Here's what I menat to say.

I had the EL42's replaced on my TL about 3 weeks ago and immediately went a vacation that consisted of 1500 miles of driving. At first the tires seemed to be a good replacement, which I noticed hardly an cold start flat spotting, the drive appeared to be a bit smoother and vibration @ 50MPH+ was about the same. However my trip was to South Carolina, which was about 30 degrees on average warmer than Columbus, OH.

After returning to OH they very next morning, thump, thump, thump. The cold flat spotting now seems even worse, the mild to moderate vibration is still there, however it does seem a bit softer in ride quality. Overall no major improvement.

An Acura regional rep has asked to drive my TL along with a couple of other TLs next week after an overnight stay at the dealership.

I'll report his findings once the tire situation has been evaluated.

Andy

I am glad I told them to forget the replacements - I will change 'em myself after they are worn...getting better now with warm weather. I just want to drive it...no more trips to dealer...

I am waiting to get replacement tires within the next couple of days. I asked the service manager at the dealer what they were replacing them with and they said "another Bridgestone tire, but not the EL42." I am very skeptical about any Bridgestone product now - anyone have any luck getting their dealer to pony up for a set of Pirelli or Michelins?

My advise to everybody that is going to replace their tires with something other than the new redesigned EL42's from the dealer. Spend the extra money and buy the Michelin Pilot A/S. The reason I say this is because I first replace my EL42's with Pirelli PZero Nero M/S. The Pirelli's has flat spotting just like the EL42's. They do handle and ride firmer than the EL42's, which I liked. The one thing I was trying to get away from was the flat spotting.

I want back to the tire store where I purchased the Pirelli's and a traded them in on the Michelin Pilot A/S. My car sat for 2 day without driving it. I got in the car this morning and there was no flat spotting with these tires. The ride is smoother and the handling is as good or better than the Pirelli's.

I guess that is why you pay more for Michelins, they are the best tire on the road today!
