Brembo to supply brakes for Ferrari F1 team
FWIW...from www.f1-live.com
*****************************
Brembo is pleased to confirm its presence in the next F1 FIA World Championship 2004, as official supplier of brake systems to the Ferrari Marlboro team.
In the last winter Ferrari and Brembo have been working strictly together in order to find new and better technological solutions to fit the new 2004 Ferrari for the F1. Brembo new brake systems have been developed to give a great reliability and to be completely integrated with the car. The result of these tests is the new brake system, consisting of last generation alloy brake callipers, with 6 pistons.
The callipers of this innovative brake system have been developed to give extreme performances in every different using condition, in order to guarantee the safety standard that has made Brembo, both in F1 and in the original equipment field, world leader in the production of brake systems for top level cars.
The new callipers are characterized by two different versions in order to face all F1 circuits which present very unlike peculiarities in the best way. The callipers called HD (Heavy Duty) have been developed to face circuits which request a medium effort to brakes. These tracks are not so hard for brakes, even if they present short brake distances, in the areas of maximum speed too. On the other hand, callipers called UHD (ultra Heavy Duty) are made for those circuits in which brakes systems are subjected to the hardest stresses.
Brembo will supply the Ferrari Marlboro team with carbon discs too. These discs have been developed and improved in the last winter tests as well: thanks to the technology that Brembo has improved, a new group of materials has been developed, in order to achieve another performance increase.
