Brembo Brake Pad Change - Massachusetts

Hey All-

Has anyone out there have their Brembo Brake Pads changed by a local mechanic they would reccommend in the Massachusetts area? I am looking to have mind done very soon, but don't really want to take it to the dealer or is there a reason i should take it to them?

Thanks in advance for the thoughts -- Rob

Brembos are one of the easiest to change. I'm not that mechanically inclined and I was able to do them with the help of this forum and a friend. Basically, once you take off the wheels and pop out the pins on the calipers, you can pull your old pads out and replace them with your new ones.

This is the thread I had used for reference.

I am in the South Shore Area, but spend a ton of time in Boston, so anything that area works for me....

I had never done my own brakes before... A few months back I decided to tackle this project and I couldn't have been happier. I will see if I can locate the original post which included a detailed explanation and step-by-step instructions for any novice to follow

Edit: Just found the link: https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...21#post1966921

Hope this helps with your project!

It's a good idea to measure the rotor thickness and check for DTV at every pad change. Rotor thickness is important as it's a legal issue if the rotors are below the minimum thickness.

Resurfacing or replacing the rotors is a good idea if you want to minimize the potential for brake noise.

Thanks to everyone for the quick responses.... it sounds like most folks that have changed the pads themselves are very happy.... what pads & rotors did you guys end up doing? I may be up for trying this myself....

I heard that it is a good idea to use a "special" 4-piston caliper tool. Is this true from your experiences?

You mean to push the calipers back in? If so, then you can buy the C clamps, but others, including myself, have just used screw drivers to push them back in. Just make sure you have the master cylinder clutch fluid open because it'll make it a lot easier to push back in.

Do It Your Self Can Save Money

Hi everyone, I agreed “illstrategy”, changing brake pads by yourself can save money… I tried it last month I thought it is so hard but I just read the manual that include in the box I ordered and it so easy. Try this one I hope it can help you changing brake pad set.
