Break Torque Method
I was wondering if the break torque method is safe in terms of its damage, if any, to the breaks or tires or engine or tranny. I know it can make your acceleration faster and it sounds pretty cool when you are revving up your engine to 2000 rpms, but does it damage your car in any way?
If not, what is the correct way to do it

It doesn’t work well in the 04 TL for quick launches.
There is a limiter that won't let the engine rev over 2k.
The best 60 foot time is achieved with a very light foot on the break and then applying full thought moderately. Don't stamp on the gas or the car will hesitate for a fraction of a second.
I have tested the TL many times at the strip. Too bad Break torqueing doesn’t work well in this car. If it did, I know I could lower my ET and raise my MPH by 2 or 3.
60 foot times are everything for good ¼ mile times. But that is a different thread all together.

Using the "Brake Torque" method in the TL is useless unless you want to slow the car down. The amount of RPM's the engine can climb to during a brake torque is in direct relation to the torque converter and computer, not a "rev limiter".
The computer holds back timing when you apply the brakes for a hard launch so the harder you push the more hesitation you'll get when you let go of the brake. I've been told there are ways to get around this but haven't tried them and don't plan too, the TL while powerful was not built for fast launches with the 5AT so unless you don't mind voiding the warranty by modifying things, you're best served taking off at just above idle... Acura's take on things is obvious to anybody familiar with the lousy SS mode this car has, that was a big clue :sqnteek:
