Break-in procedures and "guidelines" for new TL?
I just got a new TL and wanted to know if there were any break-in guidelines I should be aware of. I have never driven a brand new car, and am concerned about breaking it in correctly!
I couldnt help take it up to 5500-6000rpm a handful of times. Hope that was okay.
Any advise is appreciated!

Two schools pof thought:
- Drive it with moderation and keeping away from long drives with constant RPM for ~1000 miles
OR
- Drive it like you stole it from day 1.
I've always done the first. Here's a link with some discussion:

what does the owner manual say---something like`` vary the rpm slightly`` as you drive on the freeway--dont use cruise control
the idea being you want the parts to get used to moving as needed for their function- like the rings, and other things that mesh or smash together~ drive in town stop and go- 25-35 cruise- then freeway- start over again- repeat as needed
Its ok to take it up to 5500 now and then- thats parts of its normal range when you drive daily-or it will be! vtec is fun!!!
stay away from full redline until 1000 miles. No drag racing- no track racing- no driving at 65 for 3 hours on the cruise control- vary it 5mph either way- or drop into 4th gear (automatics) to bring the revs up 500. just something to make the parts work,,, and not lounge around inside the engine in the same position,
You paid good money for them- make them work! But give them a proper training first.
Change the engine oil at about 5000-6000 miles this time- it has a special break in oil installed that allows more necessary wear of metal parts during the process- you want to run it at least 5000 miles.
Its all needed, and when done properly- results in a 235 HP sewing machine on wheels---smooooooth
Take it easy on the brakes too- not gentle as can be- just medium stops- brake early for 500 miles until the are bedded in- then they work much better and you can brake later.
No use of ABS panic stops if at all possible- drive aware is all
Check your tire pressures- buy a guage if you have too- verify TPMS reading and the guage so you know- and adjust pressures to 2-4 psi above what the door sticker says.
Thats going to improve handling and fuel use
Read the owner manual- its got so many tips on the systems- this car is a thinking machine with an actual mind of its own!!! that will take over the throttle and brakes if it thinks you are losing control--you want to know about those things in advance
