I'm confused, I thought the factor service manual calls for installing the wear indicator pad on the INSIDE, but here on the helms manual of specifically says outside. Who is right? I'm referring to the brembo caliper models btw

Helms IS the factory service manual (Helm Inc is American Honda's publishing company). Follow the pics and you will have it right. Squealer goes on the outside.

Unless I'm reading it wrong, it says that the pad with the wear indicator goes on the inside.

In the first picture, 19-18, it says to install the inner pad with its wear indicator upwards, and in figure 19-14, Note 10 it basically says the same thing, replace the wear indicator on the upper-inside.

I have always installed the indicator on the inside on every car i have ever serviced. The piston side wears the fastest

I agree. However Brembos have pistons on both sides. I would still put it on the inside.

Oh crap are we arguing about Brembo's or standards? The standard calipers go on the inside facing up, the Brembos go on the outside facing down. I thought we were talking about Brembo pads...

I just wish I knew why my passenger side Brembo caliper makes a loud clanking sound when I shift from R to D or D to R. Sounds like somebody is hitting the caliper with a hammer.

I would check the following:
- loose caliper
- blown compliance bushing
- blown motor mounts
