brake pads

Hi guys...i have a 2008 nbp tl type s and the brake dust is killing me. i wash my car and by the time i get back to work theres the brake dust on my car. so i am thinkin about changing them out to a pad that produces less dust, but will that make a huge difference in brake feel?

yep...can't avoid it and I've yet to find pads that don't. I run full ceramic pads and even those create dust.

Our OEM Brembo pads create MUCH dust, but perform relatively well. We ALL hate the brake dust, but most of us live with it, and constantly clean our rims.

Here is the easy fix-
because brake dust is a part of braking- you dont want it to go away!!, just not be able to grip the nearest objects- being the rims.

Remove the wheels and wash completely- both sides
dry
use a color cleaner, claybar type product on painted wheels to remove existing layers of whatever...-use metal polish on bare metal wheels. Clean is the goal.
Now apply 3 coats of synthetic car wax- that has higher temp melting point than carnuba wax, (important near hot brakes) and will greatly reduce the overall dust sticking to the rims.
Put wheels back on car- tighten lug nuts to 80 foot pounds

Use a mild spray of car washing soap to clean the rims between washes if needed.

+1... A good synthetic wax not only helps with brake dust not sticking to the wheels, it makes the wheels nice and shiny too

For the record, I also run ceramics... They certainly still dust, but now I only have to clean my rims every couple of weeks instead of every day.

I found that when I use NXT wax, it's real easy to clean the brake dust... Just put my hose on the "mist" setting, and hold the nozzle 4" or so from the wheels... The dust melts right off.... Then I bust out the leaf-blower, and dry the wheels

the leaf blower is great for getting the rims dry, and the whole car- with its many hiddens crevices... then I drive around the block a few times - using the brakes gently several times to warm and dry the brake pads, and ensure no water spots on the rotors.
