Brake fluid ?

I know everyone recommends Motul 5.1but I cannot get it locally and plan on bleeding tomorrow. I was looking at all the local stores adv the zone oriely and the choices are a bit slim on brands. I was searching the forums and find a lot of brands mentioned. what is the better over the counter fluid? I was leaning on Valvoline or Prestone

I run Valvoline synthetic fluid and change it annually. It is cheap and readily available. For a daily driven street car, I can't justify the cost of pricier fluid. The key is to change it regularly to prevent moisture from ruining the ABS and VSA components.

doesn't matter on brand, they just brake fluid, I would get my hand on whatever it available in the store. FIY Motul 5.1 is almost the same as DOT 4 except it got a little better performance for ABS system and boiling point. DOT 5 is a whole new ball game and it use for racing application and different than DOT3,4 and 5.1.

DOT 5 is silicone based, don't use it.

Just use Valvoline Dot 3/4. You won't notice a difference.

I highly doubt the Honda stuff is anything special, unlike their coolant. The only fluid in my car that will always be oem is the Honda Type 2 coolant.

Stick with Acura/Honda Power Steering Fluid and Coolant!

As far as brake fluid, get a reputable brand's DOT3/4 fluid, DOT4 is my preference as it's a bit more resistance to water than DOT3.

I like ATE superblue. It comes in yellow and blue. Makes it easy to tell when you have completely exchanged fluid.

Amsoil psf is perfectly fine in these cars. I've been running it for a lot of years. It has the right viscosity and additional zinc.

Good call on the PS fluid, that's the other one that I only use Honda along with the type 2 coolant.

You don't have to use Honda PSF.

Since this thread is becoming a Honda vs aftermarket fluid types discussion. I want to ask what are the reason's behind keeping to the honda fluid versus others? All I see are opinions of use this versus that because that's what I believe. I have yet to see any actual reasons besides here say on why to stick to OEM.

I ask this question because I'm at 60K and due an oil change. I would also like to flush the power steering fluid, brake fluid, and antifreeze. Along with my tranny 3x1, oil change, and tire rotations.

Antifreeze - I was seeing that Prestone's Extended life AF/C should be okay as it is silicate free.

PSF - Not sure yet, as I haven't researched that one yet.

Brake fluid - Obviously from this thread any brand is okay as long as it's DOT3, 4, or 5.1.

Long story short, I would rather buy something that doesn't cause me headaches down the road.
