Bought an '04 TL today

Good evening Acurazine !
I traded in today my 2002 Acura TL-S with 160K and upgraded to a 2004 TL 6 speed with 56K.
1st impressions :
I LOVE THIS CAR ! but really everything is amazing, ive owned VW Passat and an 02 TL-S and nothing is compared to this car.
The suspension is amazing, the car takes turns much better then an A4 or a 3-series BMW.
The Brakes are great, Brembo WOW !
I can keep going all day.... im super excited with my purchase especially after owning the previous model TL-S for long time, I currently have very light tint and im looking to get a remote starter.
I will appreciate any advice or comments !

I will post pics in the next few days, its Nighthawk pearl black w/ light tint and all else is stock. It seems the previous owner had some sort of a steering wheel cover that when he took it off it ate off the leather trim of the steering wheel, it aint pretty. Would I be able to find a carbon fiber trim steering wheel for my model ? I tried the search and couldnt find anything. If anybody has any info it would be well appreciated ! Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick reply !
If I find just the steering wheel, would I be able to mount my airbag and controls onto it ?

That's low mileage for an '04. I'd research the history on this car and speak with the previous owner if possible to determine it's usage and service history just so I knew everything I could. I would ask the dealer to provide a carfax or similar research document or get one myself (if you have not already got one). Hopefully it's a one owner (before you) and this will be much easier to learn its history. I'd change out all the fluids right away and begin running a high quality synthetic oil in her with high quality filters like Bosch (no cheap Fram etc filters). Along with personal modifications, I'd make sure all the recommended maintenance was up to date too as well as plan ahead for upcoming service. Enjoy the car and Good Luck!!

Wow that sounds nice! Congrats on the purchase! I just bought a '06 TL with 48k on it with navi. I must say I am impressed. I agree with all of your statements about handling. It's a dream. Now to hack the navi...

Congrats! nice upgrade. How does remote start work on 6mt since you have to push the clutch to start?

Congrats and welcome to AZ! You may want to register her at www.myacura.com. Save your Navi and radio codes there for safe keeping.

Welcome and congrats on the excellent find! If it were my car, I'd head for the service DIY area on A-zine and do the following (unless there's documentation that it's been done recently):

- Brake fluid flush
- Power steering fluid flush
- Change MTF with GM Friction-Modified Synchromesh (lots o' threads on this)
- Check condition of serp belt and hoses. (If never changed, now would be good.)
- Your hitting the somewhat unofficial time limit on the timing belt (7yrs/105k miles). Something to consider anyhow....
- Check lower control arm compliance bushings. Even if torn, as long as it's not affecting handling, just monitor. (See long thread on this in Problems and Fixes.)
- engine oil, filter, engine air filter, CAF yada-yada-yada....

Probably all old news to you since you had an '02 TL-S, but I throw it out there FWIW...

I bought the car from the local dealership, the previous owner purchased the Acura TL from there and all the maintaince was done there.
They flush radiator, transmission, changed oil, balanced tires, allignment and detailed it very nice.
Looks like im good for now

Read this thread.

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/100-000-miles-these-5-most-important-things-ive-blown-%24%24%24-832147/

Its a good write up. And it addresses your steering wheel question. Its a good thread for new owners to read as they get on this site and wanna mod without doing maintenance first.
