Body Side Molding Installation

Has anyone installed the BSMs? I assume that the installation would be pretty easy. I was considering ordering them and installing them myself. Any advice or suggestions?

I just had mine installed today at the dealer-part of the deal. Looked very easy. They come with templates you tape on the door at the crease line where the door handles are, and mount the moldings at the bottom edge of the template.

Just a word of caution-if you intend to put door edge guard moldings on, leave enough room at the rear end of the front door for the edge guard moldings. My installer didn't, so if I want to put them on, they will have to be 2 pieces.

By them online for ~$136 and install yourself. Its as simple as Ron A described - Ensure the door area is perfectly clean, tape on the supplied template, peel of backing on BSM's, and apply to door as you line them up against the bottom of the template...

Took me all of about 20 min a side. Most of that was taping on the template.

I have installed BSM on two MDX - it is very straightforward and easy to do. Cardboard templates are included to ensure proper placement.

Yup! I'm waiting to see BSM on NBP too. Have not seen one. Seen Anthracite and SSM but not NBP.

Let me provide a counterpoint to this cheerleading cry: THEY ARE UGLY AS HELL AND THEY DON'T DO SH*T!

Now we have a balanced set of views

I completely disagree. I think they add to the car. For example, I bought a 2002 TL and a Co-worker bought a 2002 CL-S. Her car has all types of dings, as it has no BSM, and mine is ding free with BSM.

The installation instructions recommend using a roller applying 30lbs of pressure. What kind of roller do I need to use and where do I get one?

You can use a rubber mallet as a pressure roller. Wrap it in cloth so it will slide easily when you run it along the molding while applying pressure. That should suffice.
