Bluetooth Help

To those that have Bluetooth phones, please post your experience and suggestions. I definitely want to take advantage of this feature but I don’t know which phone to buy. And frankly, I don’t know my options. I’ve been with Cingular for about 8 years and I have a Motorola V60. I'd like to stay with Cingular but I would change providers if I had to. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.

Cingular has many Bluetooth Enabled phones if you have GSM.

I think there is also some TDMA Bluetooth phones too

My wife and I both got the Sony Ericcson T616 3 mos ago and it's worked out real well. particularly useful is the recording feature and "organizer" in addition to the camera. It's nice to have the Bluetooth and infra red available. Battery life before recharging is amazing. We use the recording feature because sometimes it's too cumbersome to write something down like address or instructions.Or just to have a record of the conversation. BTW you need to inform other party they're being recorded.

My recommendation for Cingular customer is to get the Nokia 3600. It has better voice over Bluetooth quality than the Sony T616. Some people here have already reported less than desirable results with the T616 connecting with the 04 TL.

The 3650/3600 is definately not heavy. If anything it is too light and feels cheap because of this.

I have a 3650 and what I hate about it is that it feels cheap and light, the battery cover is loose on everyone one I've seen, it is a bit bulky, and the keys do suck. But the keys have a fix. Get the soon to be released 3620 or 3660 which has normal keys. Or even better wait for the 6600. The 6600 will address all of my shortcomings and also add a few extra goodies like better screen and more memory and upgraded software.

The reason I got the 3650 is because of the features. Where as car looks matter to me ...when it comes to the phone functionality is most important and it is hard to beat what the 3650 has to offer.

Wow, 6600 looks awesome! Is AT&T going to support this phone in US market?

I am using Sony T616 with ATT, and it works good, as far as the hands free functions. But may be coming from the feedback, people I talked to over the HF said they always hear the echo of their own voice, which I don't here in the car.

Does this line of Bluetooth questioning mean you got the car?

Did you end up trading the Sundance?

Another option

I am wanting a BT phone now as well, but Cingular doesn't offer very many options, and the 3600Nokia is just Fugly.

BUT: Come november 28th, you can now carry your cell# to another carrier if you switch. I too have had Cingular and this phone # for many years and don't want to lose it, this will certainly help in the decision, and should spur some competition if vendors don't want to start losing customers who used to stay just cuz of phone #.

Weeee haaaaa.. go America.

EmuMessenger,

I have not sold the CL-S yet. So needless to say, I do not have the TL. I've been swamped with work and have not been able to get it detailed. I'll try to do that this week and put it on the market. I'll really hate to see it go.

As with all my purchases of this amount, I am trying to do as much research as possible before buying. The bluetooth option is high on my list, so I want to make sure I have the best equipment. I'm just fishing for different opinions and experiences.

I'm going on a mission trip to El Salvador in November, so I'm not that concerned with getting the TL until I return. (I can't take it with me) Hopefully I have it buy December.

Chris

Local Number Portability date is November 24th not the 28th.

On this day anyone will be able to switch from any cell phone company to another one and take their number with them. For Free. And the number switching should according to the FCC happen in less than 3 hours from the time of the request.

You will be able to take a land line number like from your house to a cell phone, or a cell phone number to a land line, or a cell phone to another cell phone provider. (land line to land line is already possible).

If people start leaving Verizon, Sprint, and Nextel because of lack of Bluetooth phones that will put the pressure on those three companies to do something about it and to get bluetooth in their phones. This is America...you vote with your wallet! ...Remember that.

Are you sure about the above point? I'm not sure that you will be able to transfer a landline number to a mobile phone. If you have a link that can offer more info about this, please share.

Thanks for the link.

I was just repeating what I heard on a talk radio station show. I guess you can't trust what those talk show hosts say.

Here's a good article on the subject, it looks like you will be able to transfer your landline # to your mobile phone:

So I guess that FCC web site link is outdated. It did kinda seem that way since it makes no reference to the changes that will happen come Nov 24th. So I was right after all.
