bluetooth

do you think acura might get rid of this technology anytime in their future cars? since it does provide novice users alot of problems and headaches to acura to fix if something did go wrong?

i am just curious to see what you guys think.

Not at all. It's just new techinology and might take some people more time to get comfortable with it. Why would you even think that something like this would cause acura to drop it?

As long as bluetooth remains a viable commercial technology, I see no reason for Acura to drop it from their cars. It offers a definite safety benefit as well as convenience.

My opinion is that just the opposite will take place. Wireless interaction between the car and the phone is positive step in the right direction. It's not simply more convenient. As cell phone use prolliferates, more and more drivers voluntarily distract themselves by operating them while driving, and it's having an impact on everyone's safety. Several states and municipalities are already studying the possibility of outlawing cell phone use while driving. Bluetooth not only directly addresses the safety issue, it makes using your phone infinitely more convenient in the process. As more and more car manufacturers incorporate Bluetooth into newer designs, cell phone manufacturers and wireless providers will expand current Bluetooth offerings and inventories to accomodate demand.

Bluetooth is headed way beyond the cellphone by the way.

Apple is working on a BT iPod that will wirelessly beam your MP3 collection to your head unit in digital quality.

You know those fugly tollbooth transponders that you're forced to glue to your windshield? Could be gone.

You have to whip out a credit card when you pump your gas? A BT applet could eliminate that headache.

Acura could make a device that 'senses' your approach to the vehicle, opens the doors, starts the engine on voice command. No more keys to carry.

Kids in the car? Future BT headphones integrated into the XM architecture could mean that each passenger could listen to his or her own favorite XM station and not just the one that dad chose.

We could make this a fun thread and make up more stuff, but the reality is that BT is going to be here for a long time and its in-car solutions may be as applicable as it's in-home solutions before too long.
