How are you guys mounting the relays? Are you just taping them up and letting them hang somewhere? Looks like an interesting mod.
One other question, do you have the relay/diode type/partno's.
Thanks

I'm lost too, maybe
Probably makes sense if a person saw the original circuit layout.
The squares are flasher relays, each terminal is numbered on the relay and that's what the numbers represent.
About the only thing I do understand is that you cut the red/black stripe silver dots wire running from the side marker LED and reconnect it to terminal 30 of the flasher relay.
I'm not sure if the diagram is literal in that there's two daisy chained relays or the left is like a before and the right an after.
It would be clearer if the picture showed both the before and after circuit seperately.

edit my mod Ron A 6 Feb 2005:
Links deleted. These were hosted by pifiu, which for some reason does not show the intended pictures, but ones of a high mounted rear wing.
Poster has been notified by PM to correct the links, if possible.
I think at this time he said he couldn't find them, but would put them in if he does find them.

The original VISIO diagram
link deleted by mod Ron A-pifiu posts wrong pictures
Each set of relays will control one LED marker. A 12V normally closed relay will work. After cutting the wire, connect it to the 2 diodes and then to the relay..... Thats the hardest part.
You can mount the relays with wire ties or screw them to the inner fender and make sure you have a good ground.

It seems that there are 2 LEDs in the marker. Anyone though of using only ONE as the side marker and using the other as the turn indicator? It would be simpler, but would it be as visible?

Note on the drawing, the original thread clearfiied that there was an error on the drawing, the Diodes should be 1N4001, 1N4002, 1N4003, 1N4004 (it was missing a "4")
You can get those from Radio Shack.
The circuit was drawn (and designed) based on what the majority wanted, that was for it to look like normal untill the blinker was on. I had several proposals out there, as you can do differnt things with them.
Have fun and at your own risk.
I could send people a smaller higher res jpg (or even better a tif file), just PM me your e-mail address.

silly question?
here's a silly question-
why is it necessary to remove the inner fenderwells? it would appear that only the wire needs to be cut/modified, and those should be avail/accessable in another part of the harness that affors easier access (and a better place to secure relays).
?

When I did it, the svc manual was not available, so I did it where I could see the wires.
The only access to the LED marker and front blinker is via the fender well according to the svc manual since published, if you want to trace the wires elsewhere, then be my guest, then please let the rest of the site know how you did it as a better option.

So for you that have done this, did anyone else do this mod and did anyone else figure out an easier way other than removing the fender well?
For those that removed the fenderwell, did you remove the front wheel to make this easier or just turn the steering wheel a certain way?
I'm less interested in the blinking and more interested in changing the Color of the light when its on. I got my front turn signals cleared and now those little side marker bastards are the only remaining yellow/amber on the front half of my car.
