For those of you that have blacked out headlights. How much does that affect the amount of light your headlights put out? Is it hard to see at night?

If you are talking about blacking out the internals then doing that does not affect light output from the projector i.e. lo/hi beam and fog light. If you paint the turn signal reflector then turn signal light output goes down but there are ways around it, you can paint the turn signal reflector partially to get the blacked out look yet keep the light output.

Like here is an example of headlights where they are painted with matte black paint, everything is painted including turn signal reflector, fog light bulb cover, chrome strip that runs across the turn signal etc. Light output from lo/hi beam is same, light output from fog light is the same but the only output that is adversely effected is from turn signal reflector. Using glossy black paint will help as it reflects lights somewhat compared to matte black.

i painted my turnsignals silver and let me tell you...you'll def lose some output...it's best to leave the reflector area chrome and paint the outer areas however you'd like it.
