Black details

I have a white 05 Tl with really dark tints and am getting nice black rims. I want to do some more small black details. I was thinking about makin the front silver grill flat black, making the A emblems shiny black in the front and back, and removing the Acura an Tl badges on the back.

Any advice? Is this something I can do myself or should I get it professionally done? What do you think?

Congrats and welcome to acurazine!

Removing the badges are EASY and can be done at home with some floss/fishing line, a hair drier and some goo-gone to remove the adhesive. You will be able to remove ACURA and TL badges however the A emblem on the center of the trunk is screwed on so if you remove it you'll have holes left that'll need to be patched up.

As far as more little black details, you could put tint over the side markers and the rear tail-lights (or go for the TL-S ones which are a smoked color like the front side-markers).

As well as more accents, rather than black out the WHOLE front grille, why not use some Plasti-dip and paint the bars in the grille. That will give the A emblem on the front a Floating look.

Black out the ACURA letters in the front bumper, that is a nice touch for WDP.

Did you do the front grill and A badges yourself? If so, how and what did you use?

I agree with csmeance, make the A in the front float. Thats what i did to my TL, i used Plasti-Dip. Its great stuff, if later you want to make the grill silver again it easy to remove.

Also color in the "ACURA" on the front bumper, 100 time better for something small.

Welcome. All of those things you listed can be easily done yourself. It just depends on your quality of work. If you're not able to pull it off get it done professionally so the end result won't look cheap.

Black out your headlights (it is DIY-able, or get an AcuraZine vendor to do it).

I tinted my side-markers (which are already smoked). I put a bit of 1/8th inch pinstripe in the door handle crease.

You can also black out the chrome strips in the lower valences (is that '07/'08 only?).

You can do black vinyl on the roof, which looks good and is "trendy" at present.

Add a roof lip spoiler in black.

When I did my CAI I painted it flat black before installation. Did the same thing with my J-pipe and thought about doing the whole exhaust (except the tips), but I decided that (and the J-Pipe) were a waste of time.

Paint the brake calipers and rotor hubs black (back only if you're 6MT or TL-S).

WDP engine cover with a Black "A" logo peice.
