Bird in hand in SoCal?

My local dealer just called and has an Anthracite/Nav/Auto available now at basically list price with protection package thrown in. Not really willing to come off the MSRP at all, which is the trend here.

I have a small deposit down on a similar car from a dealer 40 miles away that may not be here until at least January 20th, this for the protection
package and $1K off MSRP.

And of course, I have to decide now...

It's the classic bird in hand vs. 2 in bush scenario...

What would you do? You will not be held responsible...

1K for 1 month? Does not seem like a bad trade off. I would wait.

I'd wait if I were you. You've already got a sweet deal.

Wait Wait Wait....don't rush. If we don't give in to these dealers they'll come off MSRP soon. (Some already are) I've put a deposit down on almost the same vehicle with $1,000 off msrp and i live in so-cal too. Now i'm playin the waiting game (i just put my deposit down last week).

You can probably make a deal, I know of a dealer that has nearly the same combo (six speed instead) that has been sitting for a few days now, no claimers yet. For some reason or another that color was hot in the 2002-2003's here, but is not hot at all in the 2004's here. Go figure?

I've heard from several dealers that Anthracite is *the* most popular color. Particularly with ebony interior.

Grab it while you can. There's no guarantee on the other one, particularly since that dealer can possibly get MSRP for it from someone else.

I'd wait, or at least bargain them down.

I got a Nighthawk (black), Ebony (black), 5AT, Navi for $1000 below MSRP with the protection package thrown in.

I just called/emailed every dealership in the LA area, and it took me about 2 weeks to get one.

I did walk away from the first one I was offered as they did not want to deal. I ended up getting a different dealership call me 2 days later.

Good luck.

Which dealership is this? There are plenty of dealerships in OC, LA, and SD who are selling at far below MSRP. If this dealer won't budge, I would walk without hesitation.

I know of at least two LA area dealers willing to take $1000 off the sticker. I know of another dealer who will take $600 off. Do NOT pay sticker. The waiting list on these cars isn't that long, and cars "unexpectedly" become available all the time. That's how I got my Anth/Ebony/5AT/Nav last week...for $1000 below sticker.

And by the way, Anth/Abony *is* the most difficult color combo to find.

I say wait. I wanted Red / Ebony 6Mt. Got a lot of offers for Black / Black at list. Nobody had the Red in MT.

Then they called with $500 off and I said no I would wait. Dealt with an out of town dealership and they went $1600 off. Local dealer decided to match. But, took silver since the Antracite / Ebony was hard to get. I could have gotten it as the out of town dealer emailed me and said he had the only one in the 6 states around Texas.

Hoehn Acura in Carlsbad quoted me $34,995 for a AT/NAV w/ the protection package. This was a few weeks ago, so the price may be even lower by now.

Update

Thanks for everyone's advice. They would only come off MSRP by $300 and protection package. If they had come to $500 I proabably would have taken it, but it doesn't look like they will. It's still $700 I can save, so it seems worth a month wait.

But knowing the car is 1 mile from my house and avilable today is definitely tempting!
