BIG TIME Competition for a 3G TL

Hey guys check this out:

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/08/01/p...art-at-34-250/

Infiniti has announced the pricing for the 2008 G37 Coupe. The eagerly-awaited successor to the outgoing G35 Coupe will arrive in showrooms on August 21, and the starting-price breakdown goes as follows:

* Infiniti G37 Coupe (5-speed auto): $34,250
* Infintit G37 Coupe Journey (5-speed auto): $35,000
* Infiniti G37 Coupe Sport 6MT (6-speed manual): $35,550

In terms of bells and whistles, here's Infiniti's pricing for the major options and option packages:

* Moonroof: $1,000
* Premium Package: $3,200
* Sport Package: $1,850
* Navigation Package: $2,200
* Technology Package: $1,150
* Performance Tire & Wheel Package: $650
* Rear Spoiler: $550
* 4-Wheel Active Steer package: $1,300
* Wood interior trim: $450

The complete press release has been pasted after the jump. We've checked the company's website, and the G37 has not yet been added to the "Build Your Infiniti" feature yet. We're guessing that it'll be there come 8/21. You can check out plenty of high-res shots in the updated gallery below.

You're comparing a coupe with a sedan? These are two different populations of buyers.

the pricing isnt that much different from the TL-S, when you add the options onto the G37. In fact, the TL-S bottum line may be cheaper.

TL-S = front wheel drive => Good in Snow

G37 = rear wheel drive => Crap in snow even with snow tires

Main reason why I chose the TL-S instead of the G37. Also the manager at infiniti suggested I get a G35x since I go snowboarding every winter. That right there killed it for me.

Infiniti ruined the 08 coupe's image. The outgoing G35 coupe was a beauty even though it was begining to look a bit dated. The G37 coupe does not look all that different than the freaking new Altima coupe. The new G35 sedan looks more polished than the coupe IMHO.

By the way the new 09 TL will be a beast. I look foward to trading in my 05.

I totally agree ... 08 type-s has no change while this G37 is brand new ... even when you add the same kind of options on a g35, you would expect to pay in the type-s price range or higher ... but it does look pretty slick though ...

When is the RL/TL coupe coming back again ?

err....isnt the biggest competition for the G37, the 335i? I mean even magazines are all over it (MT, Car & Driver, etc). And it beat the 335i in the track because the 335i had problems with oil overheating. But I saw on the drag numbers the 335i beat it by around .3 secs (13.7 vs 14.0 , 330hp vs 300hp). I still think the biggest competition for the TL is the G35 sedan/coupe due to its price range and the IS250.

You can probably fit a TL-S under that thing anyway. The G37 lacks a decent amount of torque imo, but then again so do the TL's.
