Big decision need input

I’m about to pull the trigger on one of 2 cars.

A 2004 White diamond pearl TL
31,000 miles
Manual transmission
Yellow interior
Very clean
Not certified as it’s a Ferrari dealership (guy traded it in for a Ferrara)
$24K

Or

A 2006 Silver TL
21,000 miles
Manual transmission
Grey interior
Certified (acura dealer, car came from auction, has 3 or 4 pencil sized dings on the door crease. I noticed them at the last minute)
$28K

Any pros and cons in going with the non certified? I was never a fan of white and always considered it a chick color…but the TL looks great in white diamond pearl…doesn’t it???

All input is appreciated!

Hey, if you really want the Silver TL, go for it... as for the 04... I'm not sure about that. You can find plenty of 04's around the low 20's. The only thing I like is Manual and 31k miles. I'm a WDP guy myself, but for 24, that's a lot. Especially 24 thousand dollars, Manuals, as others have said, have lower resale price... so the dealer must be making a bundle off that.

If you know of a cheap way to fix those dings, definitely get the silver one. Forget the white one. Need I say why?

If you get a manual, make sure the clutch doesn't feel weird. Some have had problems.
edit: if it feels OK, though, it's probably fine.

The dings are on the crease. It will be very difficult to remone them. I'm not a huge fan of the silver either. There's thousands of silver vehicles on the road these days. They have a 2006 black with 36lk miles for 28 also. I know you're a fan of black....but it's probably a bitch to keep clean.

I got a certified 2004 WDP with 11K miles on it back in 2005 for 26K. I think you can do better.

Seriously, if you get the NBP, it's under warranty, has TPMS, and it looks great!

Try to negotiate the price a little more. Tell them how serious you are about purchasing. Let them know you're down between two cars, and you're gonna go with whoever gives you the best deal.

Would you buy a non-certified if the price was right?

Out of those 2 I would go for the 06 Silver, but having dents for $28k is high.
I would keep looking. Find a mint TL 06 for more like $26-$27k w/15,000 miles.
I sold my 06 TL Nav auto w/4,000 miles, mint for $27.5k in Dec 06. THAT was a deal.

No joke - go buy it back and I'll buy it from you! I'm waiting to get an '05'/'06 TL 5AT Navi for 'low 20's' so I can trade my '02 with the explosive trans and keep the payment the same. Hoping to find Abyss Blue with gray interior - not many of those around at all, but that's the color the wife likes...I did drive an '06 certified with 30K that they were asking 29K for...I knew that was high, but it was white so there was no point in arguing yet....

i think the 04 is an ok deal IF it does have navi...and it doesnt have driveline vibration, internal rattles...VIN # falling in between the transmission recall, etc...the miles is comparable to 06 but 4 K less.

Personally I would prefer the certified 06 if the price was right. The 04 might have another year left on its factory warranty, and you could purchase an extended warranty from acura if you wanted to. In either case, you shouldn't purchase unless you can negotiate the price lower.

White all the way!! but make sure you bring them to a dealer to make them inspect it. That way you'll know what has to be done sooner or later.

I don't think 24k is that bad on the 04 as long as it has navi, and thats out the door.......

Thanks for the input everyone. I'm the proud owner of a 2004 WDP TL. I got the price down to 23K even. I pick it up on Friday and as mentioned above I plan to schedule a full inspection with an Acura dealer.

How do I find out if my VIN has power train issues? I did notice some vibration during test drivinfg...but read on this site that this is normal for the TL.

Also, I'm looking at the side moldings on ebay. What's the take on those. In my opinion they give the car another nice line???

Thanks again.

First exterior upgrade... window tint.

Any other recomended inexpensive and easy upgrades?

This is only my opinion, so don't take it personal.
I HATE side molding, window crap, and ANY pinstripping period.
Those rain window gutter things look like crap! I smoke, and would rather wait to have a smoke then put that ugly crap on my car.
I HATE white letters on tires also, but thats MY OPINION.
I don't like 95% of chrome wheels, but thats MY OPINION.

I'm asking about the body molding....nbot the window molding. The car looks great as is....but the side molding will prevent door dings. Rain gutters are ghetto...no doubt.

White letters on tires?? That went out in 1985. I think chrome wheels look great on certain cars.

I was also talking about body side molding as I said. It looks like POOPOO
Sure it helps with door dings. DON'T park by other cars. I keep an extra 10 pounds off me by walking far enough to park far away.
How about putting CHROME door guards all over around all the doors also.
YUK. The stock body looks great without all the nasty add-ons

The body moulding seems to low to be of much use. Anyone with it care to comment?

Why not get 4 side moldings and put one at every 3". That will protect the side real good.
SORRY, they look bad.

They do seem to be low on the side to do any help. NASTY, YUK.

I have side mouldings on mine and like the way they look, and the added protection.
It's personal preference; only you drive it everyday.

Ok...I get your point...you don't like the body mods.

I now need some contructive feedback. Does anyone else (besides JD-TL) have a WDP with the side moldings? If so...do you have a pic so I can see what it would look like?

Congrats on your new TL! It is a great car and I'm sure you will love it
Window tint will look great especially on the WDP. Be careful with the side door guards esp with WDP as the paint is very hard to match up and most likely the side moldings will be significantly off from the rest of your body color. If you get it done at the dealer tell them you want the "Paint matched" Good luck and enjoy your car!
