damn..that sucks. I actually only went to Open Road on 18 if I needed warranty work done. For everything else, I do it myself, or go to Bridgewater Acura. Their parts are a lot cheaper, and they are a lot more helpful/friendly.

What ever happened to the magnet on thin cloth test for buying a vehicle? Am I that geeky to know that's the only way to truly tell if a car has been damaged (at least on metal)!

I know i'm late to respond but as mentioned a few posts ago, a CarFax does not mean the car has never had a problem. My CarFax came up clean but when I had the front bumper repainted I saw a little bit of damage to the plastic support behind it where the plate goes - which means the prev. owner must have hit something lightly, not enough to cause visible damage from the outside.

No one is required to report to CarFax; it's great that shops and insurance companies do, but there's no requirement or mandate [to my knowledge] for it. If your car is CPO then you should look at the CPO list and see if one of the items they checked(?) would have revealed the damage; if so then perhaps you got the CPO paperwork, but the car was never inspected.

I cannot think of legal recourse you have, unfortunately.

I bought mine as a CPO and maybe a month later got a letter from the dealer asking me to sign the CPO inspection sheet......

.. oh and I do have to point out that technically the possibly shady people at the dealership sold you the car; not Acura Corporate. I doubt they were aware of it..

Not to be a d*ck or anything but doesn't carfax get their reports from insurance companies and not body shops. O r at least the dmv since accident reports go thru them in the first place. A dealer doesn't neccessarily have to report minor damages like light body work either and that was mentioned on the news when they did an expose on some dealership in NYC. Don't get me wrong but if it was a major thing then yes they have too cause it would get a salvage title. I think you should contact corperate acura offices as well as a lawyer.

I wish I would have saw this thread before I bought my car. I went to open road of east brunswick and the guy tried selling me a car with no nav that he said had nav for the same price as it had nav (18k for a 2004 with 47k miles). told me minor accidents. i walked out there and showed him both bumpers were replaced at one time due to color difference. the salesman and used car salesman were both real jokers.

I ended up buying my car in wayne nj at an open road dealership. I hope they do not have the same problems because I got an amazing deal on my car. 16K for a 2004 with nav and only 29k miles. It had minor body work at times. No problems yet.
