Best / Worst Dealers around Chicago?
Looks like I will have to bring my car in to get the driver's side mirror replaced. I bought my car from Arlington Acura in Palatine, but I live in Lincoln Park. Worst case I will go back there. Any thoughts?

Well, I ordered my '05 ABP TL w/ 6spd and Navi from Arlington Acura in Palatine on 3/12/05 and haven't heard a peep from them since. I have left two messages for my sales person since the purchase date and he hasn't returned either call. I called the Sales Manager and asked if someone could provide me with a build and/or delivery date. He said he would talk to my sales person and get back to me. No return call.
So far, I am not impressed at all. At the very least, I would expect a thank you note or a call when you spend $35K+ on a car. I get thank you notes from some other dealers just for stopping by.
I am about to give up on them and go order the car from Schaumburg Acura...

I leased my '04 TL with NAV in September from McGrath Acura in Westmont. Everything was very professional on the front end and I thought I managed to get a pretty good deal.
However...
I was there the entire day and very fatigued due to having driven from Detroit the same day in my '01 TL. I wanted to see what kind of a deal I could manage to get in IL because in MI they don't negotiate-Japanese car dealerships are there for show ('We can succeed in the Big 2.5's backyard'). I hadn't eaten and my blood sugar was low and when I signed the final paperwork I thought I had read it through thoroughly (I am very detail-oriented and don't miss much, especially when it comes to a 3-year financial commitment). I told the salesman repeatedly that I wasn't interested unless I could get 15K miles per year as I had on my previous TL lease. He was all smiles and 'Not a problem.' I felt comfortable with him and McGrath because they have a good reputation and are seemingly professional, much moreso than the dealer in Atlanta I had dealt with.
Well...
A few months ago when I was going over the contract agreement I noticed that instead of the 15K miles per year we had agreed upon and had been initially shown to me, they at the last minute must have printed off another copy of the lease terms and changed the mileage allowance to 12K annually. I'm sure I'm screwed and have been considering my options, though I probably don't have any because they have my signature. I'm confident that there was foul play involved because the salesman kept innuending that his 'numbers were low' and that he 'really didn't want' me 'to walk out of here without a new TL.'
This was, in the end, my fault for not being more attentive to crucially important paperwork. Nonetheless, I feel very taken advantage of and wish McGrath would have been more ethical.

I also bought mine from McGrath in Morton Grove. As StealthSpeed said... it's a fairly new facility so it's clean and modern. I also had to bring mine in once to have the driver's side mirror changed since the defroster wasn't working... and everything worked out fine with that... service was good. Then again... ends up I went to school with one of the guys that works in the service department... so that helps alot. One of my friends goes to Libertyville for service... and he says it's better than McGrath.

Bought mine from McGrath Acura in Westmont...didn't have a problem with them at all and would do it all over again. Great service and make you feel like you are a VIP. Free carwashes and will provide a loaner car if you give them a heads-up call in advanced. Have not had any problems with my car and love it lots.

I bought mine about 3 months ago at McGrath in Morton Grove. I've been very happy so far. They negotiated the price I wanted. I noticed a surface scratch about a week after I bought it, and they buffed it out no questions asked. There was also an issue with the plates I transferred. I think the Secretary of State messed up or something. I went to the dealer, and they issued me brand new plates. Again no cost, no questions. The free car washes are a definite plus. My mom lives close to the dealer so everytime I visit her and my bro I get a car wash. I wish it was a touch-free wash but they swear that it doesn't cause scratches and I haven't noticed any yet. My car hasn't been serviced yet so I can't comment on the service department. Any questions just ask.

Not real pleased with the service at Napleton Acura in Elmhurst where I bought my 04 TL. I had a problem with my door locks within a couple weeks of taking delivery of the car last March. The doors would intermittantly refuse to unlock. Only way to get out of the car was to physically pull up the pass side lock (as you couldn't phycially pull the drivers side up, and crawl over the center console, or you could roll down the window and use the key to unlock the drivers side door from the outside. They had the car a few times (once for almost a week) and car would never get it do it when they had it. They ended up taking apart the door but found no problem, after that I didn't have a problem until several months later. I had to drive to the dealer with this "failure to unlock condition" happening and show them, I was not full of shit, and then sure enough the found a bad lock sensor and replaced it. Also had the check engine blinking light under heavy acceleration, pretty common, but then when the light stayed on and remained on I took it in. They told me there was no software or crank position sensor fixes, I mentioned, reset the code and sent me on my way. The service guy also insenuated it was my fault as the codes were set at 4xxx rpms at 95-100mph range. Said he was doing me a favor by not writing down this in the service notes, yaa right. Just had an oil change done there last week with an appointment and waited over an hour. Long story short, I'm going to try Woodfield.
Great Thread! Thanks for sharing info guys.
