Best rotor/pad combo
I need to replace my brake pads. Since I do not know the history of the brakes prior to my buying the car 30k miles ago I am plan to replace the pads and rotors. The current rotors are slotted and cross drilled. My car is a 2007 TL-S with 80k
What is the best combo to pick up?
I looked at my rear pads and I was able to see this "HB145" stamped in the pad. I search and it came up with Hawk Performance pads. how are these?
I know this has been covered before but when I search I didnt find a definitive answer.
Thank you in advance.

Most likely; you wont need to replace anything.
and it seems as if the previous owner already put on the "best"
"best" is subjective to your needs and wants.
What are your needs and wants?
if rotor and pads are still in spec, there isnt a need to replace them.
might want to get new pads; and you can replace the pads with mostly anything.
even autozone pads work great!!! Duralast cmax ceramic pads.
I chose to go with a ceramic pad because I did not like the dusting that came with a high performance pad.
I also went with a slotted rotor from powerslot(stoptec)
again, its all preference regarding your needs and wants.
Tires play a bigger role in stopping than brakes do.

Well My pads are getting low and will need to be replaced shortly.
As for my rotors I do not know what spec for them are.
Is there a standard spec for the TL?
My needs, this is my daily driver no specific needs just good stopping.

Generally speaking; rotors dont need to be replaced in such a short interval. (just using your 30k mile for reference)
slotted rotors can be cut or turned but need a special machine to do this process. Most Shops dont have this special machine, so they wont bother cutting slotted rotors.
another tip; if the rotor has a grooved lip and is shiny then its time to change rotors.
again, you can buy whatever rotor/pad combo you want.
I bought my rotor/pad combo from
http://store.excelerateperformance.com/
additionally you can also head here
www.heeltoeauto.com
there is even a brakemotive package that sells on azine for really really cheap.
preference and price would be the determining factor in which route you go.

If you want an upgraded brake package I would consider our Acurazine brake packages:
