Which is the best buffer?

Hello there, I want to buy a buffer that will work and give that shiny look. Does anybody know what brand is really good to buy? Also what type of cleaning agent do I have to buy so that I can apply it with the buffer? Pleints give me some tips and hints on using the buffer.

Welcome to the forum
All the Wash and Wax info has its own area here
go to the top of this page and click Off Topic
then scroll down, you also find private and vendor sales areas, meets and drives etc.

Have fun!
look for post by ExcelDetail, a real detailer who also sells TOP quality stuff
Claybar is a good thing to know about for paint cleaning

If you get less than the Porter Cable 7424 or the UDM your basically wasting yourtime and money.

There is some good links on my web page in the drop downs on what it is and how to use it.

Ultimate Detailing Machine (UDM) is #1 and the Porter Cable (PC) is #2

If you have both then you have a powerfull combination for all your detail needs.

You would be wasting your time and money if you purchased that machine for paint correction. That machine is only good for applying and removing a wax or sealant.

If thats the case get at least the PC .. the UDM might be a little overkill for the beginner ot if your not doing a lot of cars.

UDM is having some issues from what I have been reading and mine has showed a couple of the symptoms.

Nothing wrong with it .. It just won't get rid of swirls or anything .. It will end up in the attic with the tread mill and the Thigh Master ...

It has no speed or power nor the abillty to put the right pads on it etc.

PC is $119 at Coastal Tool and pads are about $10 each .. then get polishes which you need anyway no matter the machine.

I have a UDM, which I'm very pleased with. Keep in mind I have a new '07 CGP TL, which at this point has required no paint correction (no swirls, scratches, etc). I would highly recommend it.

Here are some links to past threads here on Acurazine, found in the Wash & Wax forum.

1. Got the New UDM a couple days ago.

2. UDM (Ultimate Detailing Machine)

3. Here's a link to the UDM forum over at Autopia.org

Check out the Wash & Wax section here on AZ, there's lots of great info. Also, like I mentioned above, www.autopia.org has some good info and their forum is great for detailing questions / info.

Good luck in your search and be sure to update us with before and after pics

Because I've got other cars that do have swirls. I'm sure I'll eventaully need it on the TL - the paint isn't going to stay in perfect condition forever, ya know? My family / friends have them, minor scratches, etc. Haha, trust me, once you get something like this, you'll want to clean up everyone's car. Oh and if you start with proper maintenance from the beginning it's a lot easier to keep it up, than trying to correct it later.

I'm not sure if Autopia is still offering it, but if you sign up as a member on their site, you should get an email with a 20% discount code, that's how I bought mine. So it's $149.99 - $30 (20% off) = $119.99. That's the best deal that I've found. But again, I'm not sure if they still have that offer.

The only issue I have heard about is the switch. I received the new switch at no cost under warranty. Otherwise, my UDM has worked perfectly.
