Asked and answered many times over.

Do a search and you'll find a wealth of information and opinions. Better grab a large java or brew, you'll be reading for a while

Guys, that's not a very good way to welcome a new Acurazine member. How about suggesting he search the forums, BUT....also throwing him a bone and supplying him with a one link that YOU'VE found for him. Or maybe even offer soem personal experience that you've had. It's easy to tell someone to do a search, but hey, help a brother out!

OEM are hard to beat but expensive and dusty. $162 shipped on ebay:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ACURA...item4ceb36b1e0

I switched to Racing Brake ET300s. Performance on par with OEM and no dust. Got them from mrheeltoe.com (AZ vendor) $99:

We're assuming, from your complaints about the dusting, that you have a manual transmission which comes with Brembo front brakes. The OEM pads are among the best in terms of stopping power and predictability, but they do dust up one heck of a lot. I replaced mine just for that reason and went with Rotex Gold Kevlar pads. The dusting drops around 80-90% (no kidding), and is roughly the same amount as the automatic (I know since I have one of each). These pads do not stop quite as well as the OEM units, however unless you race your car, they will do fine. And they give good life and don't eat up your rotors as well. But the big thing for was was the HUGE reduction in dusting.

I installed the Duralast Gold CMAX pads on my TL. Very little dusting and no squealing at all from them. They come pretty highly recommended on this site. I like them and would suggest them if you aren't looking for some type of performance pads.

There is no "best" pad. It depends on your wants and needs from your driving habits. Good luck!

I have a base 05 and just did my rotors and pads. Oem stuff is way over priced. I went with Rotora rotors and pads, as recommended by several aziners. As for the pads I have no complaints. Ive been driving with them since Sept 11th and they feel great. No noise, great stopping and very little dust.

I got the Rotora ceramic pads from Excelerate Performance to use with my stock rotors. I'm very satisfied with them so far. They're virtually dustless compared to the stock pads. My driving habits are just commuting to work and some occasional weekend trips.

Thanks. I completely agree with you. Even if you do, do (hahahaha doo doo) a search it sometimes confuses you even more. I am in the same situatuion and would like some suggestions also for a low dust pad that at least meets or exceeds stock performance. I have an 07 TLS and it dusts like crazy....

+1 on Racing Brake ET300. Much less dust than original and very good grab. I had Hawk Performance Ceramic before but Racing Brake ET300 is better.

, I installed a set of Rotex Gold pads on my front brembo's last month and have the same impressions. Not quite as good as the OEM Feredo/Brembo's but the dust on the wheels drops ALOT. Highly recommended, and resonable cost too!

I know the OP has long since gotten his brakes but I wanted to throw Cobalt friction out there.

So far low dust and you can order which pad you want based on the torque charicteristics and desired temperature range.

It's really cool to have a pad that you can hand pick based on your expected needs. I chose a pad with a very high operating range since I'm running stock sized rear brakes and I can get them to the 600 degree range fairly easily but only average 145F for normal driving on a 60 degree day. I also chose this one because I was able to pick one out with 35% more braking torque than stock to bring some of the bias back toward the rear for better braking.

Like I said, no dust yet in about 1,500 miles but they are on the rear. Temp range is 100F to 1,600 degrees (I think). Daily driving shows 145 degrees on a cool day so the low end temp is not a problem. No noise and they won't fade until the rotor is near it's melting point lol. These rotors begin to glow around 850F, I believe, so you can see how much overkill there is.

Fronts are a little more difficult. I don't know what the Brembos average but the 13" Rotoras only hit about 110-120 degrees on a 60 degree day and normal non aggressive driving. That's pushing it with a pad that starts to work at 100F.

I'm just rambling here but there's a lot to think about when choosing a brake pad unless dust is your only criteria which is ok too.

dust is brake pad particles flinging off at high speed during use

Get good pads for your style and conditions as noted above
wash and wax the rims on both sides 2-3 coats of synthetic car wax.
much harder for anything to stick to and makes the wheel paint match the car in shine

I like racingbrake.com ET300 for wife drives car- no min temp and good braking thruout speed range, some dust but stops awesome
ET500 has more aggressive bite compound- harder initial feel under braking and work thru all normal and extreme temp range

got about 25kmiles on my 300s, getting to 4mm- the suggested min pad thickness- they will run down till 2 mm but lose heat shedding abilty and experience longer stops once below 4mm
All pads are like that, when the squeeler tab hits, its time for pads

do remove the rotors and scuff them clean of old pad material with some 120 grit sandpaper- rinse clean with brake cleaner

High performance pads really appreciate a fresh surface to do their bedding and pad material transfer layer to rotor
See the instructions on heeltoeauto.com or Pm me and we can do yours right~
I promise they wont bug you like the hps did

wash and wax your rims while off- 3 coats synthetic car wax cuts down on brake dust adhesion-
the 500s stop! and do make some dust as a result- not bad like stock,, but keeping the car clean is part of ownership and waxed wheels are easier to deal with

I must say...I was a Hawk person for a while, but I may be incline to switch to RB's....I put a pair on my car about 2 months ago and I must say they are great and they produce less brake dust....they squeal a little more but that only if you are barely braking....

try doing a really hot rebed on the RB pads-70 to 20 mph sets,, smoke from the pads is the goal- no kidding
follow mrheeltoes instructions-www/heeltoeauto.com

That gets rid of most noises- the pads are extra hard compound to stand up to their rotor metallurgy- RB pads like having the rotors scuffed clean with 120 grit sandpaper before install too- if used rotors

Make sure the squeeler tab isnt bent in and hitting the rotor, stranger things have happened
my et300s finally hit the warning tab so its new pad time- the RB rotors look barely broken in with 25kmiles+ on the pad/rotor set. Not bad considering what the fronts have been through

I worked in Tahoe for a few months and always went through Yosemite on the visits to home.

Unfortunately I was on stock suspension, tires, and brakes at the time. I had a little fun with a Vette for about an hour. The guy couldn't drive very well, I was able to catch him under braking and cornering and he would leave me in the straights. I swear after that one time I could actually see that the tires had worn down quite a bit. I also learned that the stock AT brakes don't like continuous hard braking. Of course this was not through the touristy areas.

Well I guess its about a 1000 mile update on the 500 pads. I'm not impressed. They stop well enough but still make more noise than they should. They also appear to be eating the rotors. I don't think the racing brake rotors are defective because they handled the awesome brembo pads just fine.

i got the rotora h2 ceramic pads with rotora rotors. the rotors seem ok so far but the pads squeal loud like a bitch the first couple times you hit the brakes from a cold start to get that rust out. it goes away very fast, but i am open to other suggestions mentioned earlier.

These are what I've been using. 45k miles later? Still have plenty of life in them with no squeals or anything. Just perfect!
