Best Battery for 04 TL?

Consumer Reports recommends Interstate Meg Tron Plus MTP-24 as the best battery for 04 TL.

http://www.consumerreports.org/cro/c...ies-rate.htm#6

Is it truly the best or is there something better?

That link only works if you're a ConsumerReports.com subscriber.

I have the yellow Everstart Maxx from Walmart. Last I checked Consumer Reports a couple of years ago, this one was rated A Best Buy.

That's funny because I had the Yellow Everstart Maxx from Walmart and I just had to put a new battery in my car yesterday because mine was no good anymore. Car would barely start yesterday morning after sitting for three days. This was after it was installed just UNDER a year! I just went with the Acura battery from the dealership this time since I figured if anything went wrong, it was on them.

Batteries are all crap. It's just the luck of the draw on how long yours lasts. Anything over 3 years and your looking good.

With that said, I don't have any complaints about the Autozone Duralast and I own 4 cars in the blazing hot Vegas heat. They all last beyond their warranty...

Some members have the Braille and Optima Yellow top batteries, which seem to hold up well. Especially if you plan on running an aftermaket audio system.

I actually have heard some negative things about these expensive batteries.

As someone previously mentioned, getting a good battery is somewhat a crapshoot. With that said, I say go with an Acura battery.

My Acura battery lasted 3 years. 05TL and battery was replaced last year. Funny thing was, that morning when I went to go get my battery tested at Autozone, the battery in our 03 Element was dead too. $140 dollars one Saturday morning. Good think I still had 2 more Hondas to get me there...

If your battery is draining after you car has sat for a few days, it may be a problem. Check this out:

My OEM battery lasted about 5 years believe it or not. Just got a Duralast Gold from autozone a couple weeks ago. Fine since then

The factory batteries are garbage in most cases. There are plenty of threads on here where people only get 2-3 years before it dies.

Interstate makes good batteries, you should be fine with it. So does Optima, but they are more expensive.

optimas die like in 30 months. 2 to 2.5 years usually IMO. I'm wondering who is running a lightweight battery? I've not no extra audio equipment

Interstate makes a good batteries. Then again, I think any of the "premium" batteries are decent.

I have a Walmart Everstart maxx one of my other cars. After 18 months, I had the battery tested at Pep Boys using a Midtronics tester and it failed. Walmart replaced the battery, no questions asked. However, this event caused me to lose my confidence in the battery.

I run the Yellow top myself. Had it in my old TSX and when I bought the TL-S transferred it over. Still running strong after 2 years.

My Optima Red Top had started to crapout after 3 years. However, I got a free replacement from them and we'll see if it'll last another 3 years.
