Been lurking....joined the club on 4/29

This forum was a great resource for me! I had been lurking for months, as I tried to decide what my next car was going to be. I replaced my 05 G35 6MT sedan w/ a KBP Type-S 6MT about 3 weeks ago. So far so good. I have 2K miles on it already, I drive ALOT! I have been getting 29-30 according to the computer on my highway runs, not too bad, and better by 4-5mpg than my G35.

I researched and drove the following cars prior to choosing the Type-S; A3, A4, 08 G35. I wanted a 6MT. I loved my G35, put 65K trouble free miles n it, but was ready for a new sled w/ more options on it. Got a deal I couldn't refuse, so I pulled the trigger.

Previous rides were 05 G35 6MT, 05 Accord V6 6MT, 03 Expedition, 00 Passat 20V 5 speed, 99 Mitsu Galant GTZ, 95 Civic EX Coupe, 5 speed.

Thanks for all of the insight! I will post pics when I get back to the home PC, I am on the road ALOT!

Welcome, sounds like you drive as much as I do. I am also seeing 29-30 mpg all week long at 75-80mph. You really cant ask for more than that when you have close to 300 hp under the hood. Good luck with the car and throw some pics up when you can.

Nice upgrade .... even though from a pure number-wise, the HP might be less than G35, but how do you compare the pulling/accel. between the two? Granted you used to have 05 model ...

Congrats & welcome aboard ....

Comparing old car 05 G35 sedan to Type-S

In response to Shooter's question re: comparing the "pulling power/acceleration" of my just traded 05 G35 6MT sedan v. my new 08 Type-S 6MT, I honestly feel that the Type-S doesn't pull as hard or accelerate as fast. The 0-60 times are close, but the "seat of the pants" feeling is quite different. My G35 sound alot sweeter when blipping the throttle, both cars had/have stock exhaust. The G seemed to "push" me and the passengers "back into the seats" quite a bit more. The TL's clutch is MUCH smoother, I always had issues getting away smoothly frm a stop w/ the G35. Overall I really am enjoying the Type-S, just getting used to the handling differences going back to FWD from RWD. I still went faster and had more confidence on my favorite circular on-ramp n the G35, but the Type-S is no slouch.
