The revised HP number was something like 258 and the CAI and stage 4 exhaust yield 0 HP. Actual stock HP numbers are something like 235 IIRC.

Nice kill though.

Yea, but they redid how they determine HP numbers which is why the 07-08 TL's have 258 even though there are 0 differences between an 04-06 base engine and an 07-08 base engine.

If you went off of crank HP, I'd have 308.

All I know is that I beat a supercharged truck with 600HP, and I know this because I talked with him after the race because he though I was fully built lol. Im just a 17 year old kid with a small enough amount of luck to beat that guy lol.

Glad you're racing on a track and not on the streets.

I got 14.72 but I beat the others that I raced because it was just a run on time, where the reaction time, 60 foot time are factored in. I lost only once and that was for the run to see what qualifying class you would be in and I lost due to wheel spin.

Nice video. Once again, this drives home the idea of weight/power ratios.

TL: 3400lbs @ 260 WHP (realistically) = 13.1 lbs/WHP
Ford: 6200lbs (supercab) @ 600WHP = 10.3 lbs/WHP

There's a discrepancy there for sure but you're both in the same ballpark. However, a few things come into play that the numbers don't tell. First, he has an auto. Auto's, especially heavy duty trannies on trucks are power suckers. I'm guessing his probably leeches 30hp minimum. He also has a limited ability to stay within his optimal power band like you can with a manual. Second, he's got a TON more dynamic weight. Those wheels/tires of his probably weigh 2-3X what yours do. That doesn't count the enormous weight of his heavy-duty towing axles, torque converter and crankshaft. Dynamic weight's a bitch. Third, I think he's blowing smoke up your @ss with 600hp. A stock 2011 Raptor puts out 411 hp @ 5,500 rpm. I highly doubt he was pushing 600hp with a SC and tune. Maybe turbo'd but doubt it with SC. I could be wrong, but there are two things us men exaggerate on - the size of our pricks and the power of our engine. Fourth, you were giving numbers in HP output. I compensated your TL with WHP. I guarantee you're not putting out 280hp on your wheels. Maybe at the crank but not at the wheels. Who knows what number he's giving you. Based on point #3, money says it's output at the crank, not WHP. Two different worlds there, especially on a super heavy, fat tired, auto tranny power sucking truck.

I applaud you because it drives the point home that power isn't the only thing that matters. Weight is a big deal. Otherwise bulldozers and semi-trucks would be faster than BMW's simply because they have higher output engines. The TL isn't a race car. But compared to a big @ss truck that's designed for towing and torque, the TL starts to look pretty nice Drop some weight, do some exhaust mods and low level 'breathing' mods and you probably wouldn't have even seen him in your passenger side window.

I'm probably at 220WHP because I'm actually automatic. In the video I was racing it in sport mode. And he showed me his dyno printout, now I don't remember the exact number but he was over 600HP At the Crank NOT 600WHP. And most of this power came to him due to the over bored he had done to the engine. I already had some slight weight modifications temporarily done for these races.

I had taken out the back seats and I needed the spare because I drove the ad to the track so I thought I could shift the weight of the spare to the front so I would have added weight on the drive wheels for traction.

That's actually pretty good for a 5AT. Most stockish 6MT's can't do much better.

WTF's up with the tire in the front seat?

Just said it lol, Its my daily so I drove it to the track, and if I got a flat I would have been screwed. And since I pulled out the rear seats for weight, I decided to put the spare in the front to add weight to the drive wheels for added traction.

Nice run but a I have a slight problem with a 600hp kill? The Hennessey VelociRaptor 600hp F-150 version runs 12.9/13.1 @ 110. With 600hp even with a hole shot he should have driven around you not stayed pretty even for most of the race.

There are a few big horsepower F-150's at Charlotte motor speedway, They are very quick & could spot a 14.7 car to a good lead & still win. A regular supercharged Raptor around 400hp is doable for a TL but even the 500hp flavors are at 14.0

Hard to tell from the vid but did Raceway Park put a Jersey Barrier down the middle of the track?

I think he lost traction on the start because he did not warm up his tires. But no Raceway Park did not put up any barrier on the track.

Nick not taking anything away from you, think you did very well the first time out. Even if he lost traction he was just off your back fender for most of the run. At 600 HP he would have driven around you. At 400hp you could have held him off with a hole shot. Don't forget the 400hp flavors also have supercharges so visually it could be hard to tell the difference between a 400 & 800hp engine.

All I know is it was supercharged because I saw it, and it was tuned because after his first run he connected it to the computer and changed the maps.

Speed would help frame the horsepower but he is about a full second slow for a 600hp version. I would be looking for high 12 low 13. 600hp would put him in the 110mph range.

If you listen closely prior to his launch he did not burnout and heat the tires. And on launch he laid wheels. He had almost no traction.

you really dont have to heat the tires; unless drag radials.
did not watch video; but if its a truck...it doesnt have DRs

if he drove the truck there; the tires would be already warm

I'm not sure if he drove it to the track, but all cars racing had to wait for about 2 hours for track preparation and had to wait between class races.

Will show you a vid. The car had a good launch on the first run then blew the second launch & slipped through both 1st & part of 2nd. Watch the times & speeds from the two runs. Just a few 10ths & a few miles per hour.

That is also a very light car. This is a heavy 4WD truck that weighs over 6,000lbs with not a lot of weight on the rear axle with that much power. He lost traction do to that and temps.
