Question Bay Area, CA Acura dealer recommendation?

Any good dealers to work with? I like the Redwood City dealership a lot, but they won't have the car I want for another 2 months, so I found out Oakland, Marin, and some LA dealers have my car within the time frame I want. Please let me know if any local dealers are good to deal with and if you were able to get money off of MSRP. Dealers in the Bay Area are rather firm.....

My advice would be to head down to LA to get a good deal. Most of the Dealers in bay area are thiefs!

Paul at Acura of Pleasanton was great. Very low key guy and he knows his stuff. Tell him Matt with the silver non-navi 6spd. TL sent you.

I bought my TL from Hopkins Acura in Redwood City and I thought they were great. Best buying experience I've had. No hassle, straight forward, and they delivered on their promises. I've been really impressed with their service department, too. They're a small dealership so they don't get the allocation that some others do, which probably explains the wait. They also tend not to offer rock-bottom prices but they were very competitive in my case. I just told them that I preferred to buy my car from them and would do so if they demonstrated that they'd be competitive with other local dealers. We both kept our end of the deal and things worked out fine.

If you liked Hopkins and you know that other dealers may have the car you want, why don't you ask if Hopkins can get the car for you with a dealer trade? That might work for you and you won't have to wait as long...

Good luck!

Dealers are dealers! It's a matter of timing when you go to any dealer and how is their inventory, sales targets etc. WHen I bought in mid Dec it was pretty much the MSRP with all the local dealers in the bay. However I know some people on the forum who bought around the same time in the bay with upto $1500 less than MSRP. I've a Nav, 6MT and was told there will not be any discounts other than protection package thrown in. I negotiated for almost 3 hours with the local dealer to no avail.

Thanks Rokdok. I'd love to do business with them, but the problem is they don't even have any Nav cars available to trade with other dealers......

Michael Andrews was a great salesman.....I have to say!

If you're going to work with Oakland, work with John Bruno. Stevens Creek - Peter Chu.

You're right -- most of the dealers are not flexible on pricing right now, but TLSS just got his TL w/ Nav from Stevens Creek over the weekend for $34,222 or something along those lines.

I hear you. When I closed my deal with Richard Wood, their sales manager, a few weeks back, he mentioned that their inventory had never been so low. All of their Navi cars are pre-sold, most all of their non-nav's as well, so they don't have much wiggle room and they know that it's costing them sales. They're also frustrated because they can't get their allocation increased since Acura can't build enough to meet demand. Bummer.

I waited a little over 2 months for my 6MT WDP Navi. I didn't mind that much because I wasn't in a hurry - Hopkins is close to me, I liked their style and I preferred to keep my money in town. My salesman was Joe Sid, who also was great. Regarding price, from my experience and from reading the forums, you should be able to get ~$500-$900 off MSRP in this area for Navi if you hold your ground (I got $700 off). Not great, but better than nothing, I guess.

BTW, the TL is one great car. Hope you don't have to wait, but if you do, it's still worth it!

I’d give Solano Hopkins Acura a call and talk with GM Keith Resnick 707-427-2200.
