Bay Area body shops

As some of you may know, some a-hole clipped my rear bumper. After getting quotes of $1100-$1200 to repair it (they would just replace the whole bumper) I've decided to buy the bumper myself, have it painted and install it myself. Does anyone know any good paint shops in the Bay Area to ensure a perfect match?

mr. spokesman, make a hit'n run report.... and turn it over to your insurance, and you dont have to pay deductible... nor your insurance goes up. (My ins. is Farmers and my agent told me that)

Does that mean I need to fill out a police report for the insurance co. to cover it?

Keep in mind that your rates WILL go up if you go through your insurance for collision damage + the accident will go on your record as well- doesn't matter if it wasn;t your fault.

If you are correct, then I'm going to call my agent and swear at him.

Not if you have full coverage.... "Hit and Run"

And it will not go on your driving record; you were not driving the car...

Your insurance may or will go up, not worth in this case. Wait for the big hit before contacting your insurance company.

Body Lines (in San Jose) is awsome! Ask for Kelly

I'm thinking that since it'll only cost me $700 to fix, I'm not going to bother my insurance company with it.

TLover, I had my old Integra hit twice when parked. I went to my insurance company and they paid for everything less deductible. Does not come on the record. Go ahead and save some money if you have deductible less than $700.

So I guess it depends on Insurance company, and now I'm 100% sure I'll go thru my insurance w/out paying penny from my pocket.

My buddy had some work done at Los Gatos Acura's bodyshop - you couldn't tell the difference. They did a really good job. The only drawback to silver - I've heard that it can be one of the more challenging colors to match.
