Battery drained quickly with trunk open. Trickle charge or drive to recharge?
It's been cold and snowy. A few days ago I popped the trunk but couldn't open it because it was frozen shut.
2-3 days later after the thaw I noticed the the trunk was open. Newish battery is completely dead. Is this normal? I figure at most there is a light in the trunk but I didn't think that alone would drain it so quickly.
I have the battery on a small trickle charger and it's been 2 days and not complete. It is enough to start the car. Is it better for battery health to continue using the trickle charger or reinstall the battery and drive/charge on it.
Thanks for your input!

Drifting
I would:
Put the battery back in and start the car.
Then drive it around for 30 minutes. Your alternator will charge it better than any trickle charger.
Then I would pop the trunk and give the weatherstrip a wipe-down with WD-40 or baby oil or something, so it doesn't happen again.
Also, do the door weatherstrip for for the same reason.
What is this "thaw" of which you speak??

Haha I live in Vancouver, BC so we got about 3-4 inches of snow and slightly below zero (celsius) for a few days which is enough to shut down the city and cause widespread panic.
I should clarify the trickle charge is a Noco Genius trickle/maintainer. But I'll put it back and start driving on it. Thanks!
