Base exhaust opening mod feasibilty

I'm looking at pictures of the Type S rear bumper covers and the base. Unless the curvature of these bumpers is different, would it not be possible to simply cut the base bumper larger then adapt on the S bumper cover to fit quads?

I'm not referring to putting on an A-spec rear lip, which is what most people are doing to fit quads
These are what I am referring to

There is two different types of aspec, base and type s. Most people are using the base type s bumper, at least to my knowledge....

I'm trying to see if there is an alternative option.

Right now the options are to get a TL-S bumper or to get a TL-S A-spec rear lip for a base bumper to fit quads.

If it works to hack the bumper and replace ONLY the garnish, that would save alot of money and paint.

I get what your saying, and after looking at these pictures I don't know that it would work.

Looks as if the Base tip is taller and the cut is higher into the bumper.

You would also need to have someone measure the inside of tip to tip on both the base and type s to determine how far off the cuts may be. If the type s is wider than the base it would already have your cuts thrown off.

Sounds like a little confusion in jargon. "Bumper cover" is the plastic body part that many call the "bumper". The "bumper" is really the heavy structural member beneath it. I think the part the OP pictured/linked is the "exhaust cutout insert" or something like that, and they're suggesting that the base bumper cover can be cut to fit the larger Type-S insert. They're not asking about an underbody spoiler install.

As to the OP's question, I suppose it could be done, but don't know that you could cut it exactly and clean enough to make it perfect.

Edit - Looks like some more folks responded while I was typing. The newer posts clear it up further.
