What leverage does he have. It's not like the bank is going to say, "thanks for pointing out the mistake, and for that we will give you 0% interest for the rest of the loan".

The loan contract is very specific. The bank will get the exact amount of money and interest they are due, anyway you want to slice it, they will. Chances are the loan officer just made a simple mistake calculating the payment. Maybe they just got done doing an 84 month loan for someone else. You, as the consumer, should of immediately took notice when your payments were way too low.

This is one reason why I finance cars through my credit union and don't play games with dealers or competing banks. I can get a car loan, in and out, in about 10 minutes. No games or BS.

The only think the bank has to do is make sure no loss occurred to the customer because of their mistake. For example if a teller on the other side of the state accidentally emptied your bank account for another customer and caused you to bounce checks then the bank would be responsible for returning the money and refunding the NSF fees, no more, no less.
