Banged up my trunk, thoughts?

I banged up my trunk backing up into a truck. My TL is a base 2008 White Diamond Pearl with no navigation.

I'm looking at a couple of options.
  1. Local Trunk for $185. Looks to be from an 04-06 TL and is silver, it has the traditional spoiler on it. With this option I'd certainly have to paint it to match.
  2. Shipped trunk for $350 shipped, looks to be in good shape from an 07-08 WDP TL, has lip spoiler
  3. Shipped trunk for about $375, looks to be in good shape from 07-08 WDP TL, has back up camera.
I'd probably rank my order of preference of trunk style to 1. No spoiler, 2. Lip Spoiler, 3. Traditional.

I have a couple of questions:

What are the chances of a WDP from another car looking close enough to mine to not have to spend the extra cash to repaint it? Is there any reason I should not put a trunk with a backup camera on it on my car that doesn't have navigation? Anything I'm not thinking of?

WDP is hard to match. Since you will have to re-paint, i'd say do 1. Its' cheaper and it will match better once you get a competent body shop to paint and blend !

You won’t benefit from backup camera. You’ll need to buy dvd drive, screen and complete harness to be wired from front to back to be able to use it. Regards to paint matching, not even the shop can %100 match wdp. I’d go for #2

Blending would require blending into the quarter panels. Speaking as a one time painter, if possible you don't want to paint if you don't have to. Plus it's going to be extra money to blend it. Maybe twice the cost as then both quarter panels have to be clear coated also.
Up to you if you want to spend that on a 10 year old car.

Chances are good that an already painted trunk lid of the same color will match ok.

Get the one that's painted. Painting WDP is not an easy task and matching questionable.

I'm down with option #2, too--it's factory and your best bet for a match.

I have good news for you. The color will not match but that's ok because if the color is pearl then it doesn't have to. Pearls have different colors if you are look at it from different angles. This is especially true on a curved body like your TL.

For example a car painted from the factory still looks off color panel to panel because of the pearl effect so you have a good chance of having an acceptable color match with a used part. Also if the color is way off just have the car polished to bring up the original color for a closer color match.

However, getting a good clean part is another story.

Long as #2 is original paint Id say go for it, hopefully its packed well as heavy, bulky items dont do so well when shipped.

TB is right though WDP is tough to match in any car but if its that far off when you install you can shoot it then.

I say option #2, but that's assuming the trunk is toast.

Can you post a pic of the damage. I've seen some serious PDR fixes, that would be my option #1 if viable.
