Bad Rubber Smell in HVAC

I have a wierd, chemical / rubber type smell in my car, mostly in the HVAC - both with AC on or off. Not musty, just like a smelly rubber. Anyone else have this or have a suggestion? I'm sure if I take it to the dealer they will do nothing more than spray Lysol into the vents.

Ditto. Now that I have about 1700 miles on it, that chemical/rubber smell has almost completely gone away (only shows up when the AC is turned off, and goes away much more quickly). I think it's just a break-in thing.

I had the same experience with my RSX. I thought the wiring harness had a short or something. Then I thought it was because of a "PLeather" laptop case that I used to set in the passenger's floorboard was getting too hot. I never found out what it was, it just went away.

At around 1,000 miles I started to smell something akin to vinegar. It went away some 500 miles later. Never smelled anything like rubber or electrical burning.
Give it some time it'll go away.
Well, if it starts smoking you might want to take it in. LOL
