Question Bad Dash - Continued

I have already posted about my 2005 Navi with a bad dash. You can see the depressions where the passenger airbag is. I discussed it with the dealer today and he offered to replace the dash. What do you guys think. Should I let him do it or just live with the less than smooth dash cover. I tried 303, vinylex and nxt in the hopes of minimizing the problem, but the depressions are still evident. I will admit it is a light sensitive problem and under certian lighting conditions it looks fine. At sunset it looks terrible.

Thanks for your opinions.

I have the same problem. But using Pledge furniture cleaner (armor all replacement) on the entire inside of the car, especially the dash, changes the light and the problem doesn't bother me as much.

It depends on how lucky you think you will get when they change the dash. It is not an easy job and lots and lots of components have to be removed. Chances are they will do it right, and if they do it wrong they will have to do it over but do you want your car at the dealer any longer than it needs to be?

If you can live with it, then leave it alone. If it bothers you, and none of us can see the exact thing you are seeing so we don't know, make the decision and live with it.

You might get lucky.

You should have it replaced. It may get worse with summer and winter thermal stresses then as the warranty runs out you'll be up a crick.

Replacement forces the manufacturer to deal with their quality issues. They have to credit the dealer for the work to replace the dash, and it must be a 4 or 5 hour job. Get enough people complaining and the mfgr will have to make changes or loose business.
