Bad Accident. Will my car ever be the same? Pics inside.

I agree. It seems like WAY too much. I will get the estimate tomorrow.

it seems about right, a bit high but close since repairing that rear panel is a lot of work. If a new one is being placed in, the entire trunk side needs to be welded in and water checked, the roof-line area will have to be cut apart, then rewelded, tested for leaks, and then sealed up. that alone should be a majority of the cost. The front end might have a bent rail on it, thus requiring straightening. then comes the usual small adjustments and what not.

Three Wheelin'
I had a similar accident, my car fishtailed on me and hit the curb then went into somebodies front yard and hit the street pole which damaged the rear quarter panel, the rear bumper and the tail light. Then on top of that the front seat airbag went out, the headliner airbag and the rear headliner airbag aswell. two wheels damaged. controll arms, bearings and such.... the exhaust was pushed in a little and some of that metal behind the rear bumper on the corner pretty much was pushed in and need to be pulled back. luckly the frame wasnt touched whatsoever.... went trough the insurance and bill came out to be close to 10 000. the shop was in North Carolina, Charlotte and the place Collision Specialties, the guy does work for Hendricks acura dealership so i was very comfortable letting him work on the car.
all in all i dont see why urs should be that much more....

In my opinon, no your car will never be the same. I took it to one of the top shops in the county and it was still having issues. The exhaust was hanging down lower on the passenger side and I found overspray on my wheels and fender. Every time I look at it, it just seems none of the body lines look right and there are large gaps in the panels.
But hey, thats just me and I am a little anal about my cars, just like the rest of us on this site.
Good luck on getting your car fixed.

I recently got rear ended on Jan 1st by some 17yr old girl who had her license for less than 6 months. The drivers side rear corner too the brunt of the force. Other person's insurance is taking care of it. Total so far to date the total amount in damage is $70xx.xx.
They have also had my car for 3 weeks now. Except it wasn't just surface damage the inside of my trunk was caved in to the point it was protruding and making the trunk lid difficult to open and shut. And everyone is right about that rear panel its labor intensive so in turn is expensive.
More importantly than just getting your car fixed, if you are going through insurance is to try and get diminished value. I dunno how it works in your state but in GA it is required by law to be paid diminished value.

Had to be less than 10 MPH...My foot wasn't even on the accelerator; it was just off brake. The roads were extremely icy.

I'm just going to assume you are going to go through insurance by now. 14K seems very steep for the body damages, but if there are frame issues, it makes more sense.
Since you will (or should) be using insurance, you might as well take it back to Acura and see what their repair shop thinks of taking on the job. If anyone will do it right, it will be factory. I'm not sure if they do major work like that, but the service sector does deal with airbag deployment and replacing steering/suspension alignment related parts. I don't know how extensive they are with frame and body damage though. I'd check them out for sure though, since a regular collision shop is quoting you that high. Either way, you'll have close to the same effect with insurance penalties, if any.
It's either that or sell the car for parts. I wouldn't do that however.

update again: so i got a copy of the estimate.
Total Repairs: 4082.98
Total Labor: 8155.00 (163.1 hours at $50/hr)
Paint Supplies: 999.99
Sublet/Misc.???: 87.00
Other Charges??: 159.00
Sales Tax (8.625%) 1162.99
Total Cost of Repairs: 14646.96
It is at a place called Martino Auto Concepts.
Upon googling that name, a lot of positive feedback came up; seems like they do work mostly on exotics; ferraris, maseratis, bmw, etc.

As for the quarter panel..i can't tell..here's what it says:
Rpr: RT Quarter Panel
Overlap Major Adj Panel
Add for 3 stage
Sect: LT Quarter Panel cut in sail panel
Overlap Major Adj Panel
Add for 3 stage
Rpr: Rear Body Panel
Overlap Major Adj Panel
Add for 3 stage
Add for Inside
Looks like just repair I guess.
Ahh! Repl: Nameplate "Acura"
I don't want that...
EDIT: Okay I just spoke to him on the phone. He says he will leave it debadged and they will also thrown on the ASPEC kit. He says everything will be replaced and the car will look mint. Lets wait and see..
