Backup Sensor Installation

As many of you know the rear visibility in the TL is rather poor. We want to get the backup sensors installed and our dealer is quoting us $1,100 parts and labor. Does that seem a little steep to anyone out there?

hondacuraworld.com (Tim) sells the sensors for $449.80. What did your dealer quote?

I'm looking at doing this install as well. $450 for parts and saw an install instruction somewhere...doesn't seem all that difficult...don't know if I would give someone $700 to do it.

They're charging $512 for the part and $588 for labor. Said it would take them 5 hours to install.

5 Hours to install, that's what their f'ing book is telling them. My dealer quoted $625 to install Aspec suspension, said it was 6 hour job. Was able to get a guy to do it for $150, took him 2 1/2 hours to do without a lift or power-tools. One problem with this was that one of the rear shocks blew out 2 days later, now I'm having to pay my dealer $150 to replace it, no charge for the new shock. Just for them to take of old and put on the new one. No warranty for the labor, just the part. Because they didn't install it.

If you got your TL from the same dealer get your salesman involved. Maybe you could get it down some.

You also might want to contact a local Car Stereo place.
